My user name (RPAS) stands for Revolutionary Party of Artistic Sovereignty. as I'm still trying to create It's guidelines, manifesto or whatever I'm also trying to come up with a plan to get funding and organize this place. put my ideas into action.

My general idea for RPAS is a school-studio-theater scenario build around revolutionary, socialist and leftist ideas and concepts. We will educate people on all aspects of what i mention above let them practice music with a social conscious messege(but also fun music!) Plays, Musicals, Acting, Painting, Sculpting. everything that has to do with the Arts. I have so far a team of just 3 people. One of them was a teacher for kids with down syndrome, One is an immigration activist, and my girl who is very leftist and is an actrees, singer. and my self recording engineer. I hope to find more people who will join and contribute to the idea and the concept of RPAS. besides educating and providing something for the community We would like to start our own production, publishing, promoting companies or teams. So that the artist gets more for in return for their works, and so we can contribute to the communities that support us. we would like to cut out the middle man like greedy club promoters, managers, label executives and such. I know this seems far fetch but I believe we can all do it.

Unfortunaly I don't have the money to fund such project. BUT when I lived in Florida there was a man who did the similar thing with goverment grants and donations. He had a 5000 sq ft facility with 2 studios and a state and 2 classrooms where he brought inner city kids to learn about the music business and music production. HOWEVER! he was poisoning these kids with the general hip-hop ideas of bling-bling, sex sells and such garbage. however much i didn't agree with his concept I admire how he pulled it offf!

So do you guys know of any resources or anything that could help me get started?
what do you think will be the best and most effective way to start something like this?
as a regular business? as a non-profit organization? what?

You get socialist "regular businesses"?

Now I can see the government giving out funding to some people, but do you think they would give it out to an openly communist organisation, trying to set an organisation to increase class consiousness amongst american youths through popular culture? Maybe... if you think Lenin will rise from the dead and win the next US election.

Best way would be to start small (yes, i'm done with the poor jokes). Remember, the internet is your friend! Its a world wide market hungry for alternative culture and new ideas, particuarly those which wont cost them a limb or two. This would work well for music, and video arts, but for the moving arts, and painting sculture, just about everything else, a small base in the physical world is good. Start small a dont try to spread yourself to far to begin with, some community (adult) education centres (or whatever they are called in the US), the things which run fairly cheap classes/cpurses with no official qualifications, but where experianced ammatures or less successful professionals teach newbies the tricks of the trade, they're rather popular for art. Anyway, they usually let just about anyone set up a class there, and i'd imagine the rent on a room for few hours a week would be reasonable, its a good place to start. Its probably possible to rent stage time somewhere in the region from small scale theatres. I have almost no real experiance in the arts, so I probably dont know what I'm talking about, so I'm just emptying any half-formed idea that popped into my head into this post, and I'm not even sure it makes sense.

Oh well, good luck with that

Start small, use donated space from infoshops and other various places willing to give you a free or cheap place to stay. Get more volunteers too.

just squat somewhere like an old warehouse or somethin like that. As for volunteers just look for bored anarchists, they'll help you out

I don't have the URL on me, but there's an Anarchist Yellow Pages that someone turned me on to recently. That could be a useful tool to find organizations that live near you and could provide support (ie Infoshops)

You do go to college, don't you?

They should have some rooms that you can use.
