Can We Get A Chit Chat?

Ok, I understand why you restrict us capitilists to this praticular board, however one downside to this is there is no "off time" place to go. we can't start threads about largely apolitical topics without messing with the board. So how about a second subsection (after religion). perhaps give it a witty name like "counterrevolutionary dungeon" or some such.

Sounds like a good idea to me, most of my friends are apolitical, so I have no problem debating and chatting about ordinary things with people who don't share my politics, it'd be good to get a chit-chat for the OI section.
Still, I don't think it should be named after anyone in particular, like Reagan for example. Maybe something like "General OI Chat."

I don't really see the point in having two forums dedicated to non-political issues. If we want capitalists to discuss off-topic things with us here, we should just open up Chit Chat to them. What's the point in arbitrarily dividing up the non-political threads into one place where capitalists are allowed to participate and one place where they aren't?

That's because most people don't voice their politics that loudly and certianly don't mention politics as an ice breaker (well usually - I did meet one person by having an argument with them about Israel/palestine). You wouldn't talk to somone in a hammer and sickle t-shirt would you? In the same way I'd not talk to somone with that quote in your signature on their shirt.

That said I enjoy owning cappies in this forum so anything that keeps them about is a good idea in my book. WHo knows, they may even convert if they are here long enough.

The aim is to get rid of them as quickly as possible. By and large that works. The ones that do stick around are usually as thick as two short planks.

well it depends. in a everyday passing by situatoin, no probably not. but at a party or in a class why not?

I was origanlly going to suggset that but figured this would be more likely to be apporved because

a) you guys probably want an area to talk w/o us thus it would be less likely to be approved

b) msot of us never go past here, so we wouldnt' ivsit it as much

sure. at my school the college dems and college crs go at it pretty good. i have plenty of college dems who i get along with great. my girlfinred is liberal. and i dont' see much of a idfference between our disagrement and yours.

It runs a little deeper than that. I personally dislike your signature too but I don't think it should stop the OI getting a chit chat. I do however think it's bloody stupid though and that you should change it.
