How will tractors be produced in a communist society? Also, how will they be shipped? And what color will they be? Red is the most common now, but I've also seen green. What color will they be in a communist society?

 Is this a serious question?

Tractors will be built in the same way as any other machinery. I doubt they will need to be shipped but if they do they will be moved just like any other goods. As for colour they will be whatever colour the worker who paints them chooses to paint them.

In worker run factories

Also, how will they be shipped?

On worker run railways.

And what color will they be?

Who cares?

I wouldn't ship the tractors, I hate working in distribution!

But making tractors is a production job, so I think its kind of simple to solve.

How will tractors be produced in a communist society?

Depending on technology level, they will either be produced in a factory on a production line supervised with minimal interference by human workers (working minimal hours due to shift rotation and no competition on a non-existant job market), or in a completely autmated factory overseen as a whole by a small number of specialists.

Also, how will they be shipped?

Via a continent-wide railway system that is standardised and again using the maximum possible automation. For shipping to offshore continental islands like Great Britain in Europe, either trains carrying standardised containers (Able to be carried by trucks, canal barges, trains, ferries, cargo ships, and cargo planes*) will be loaded into ferries, or in the case of shipping to smaller or more inaccessable islands, the containers will be loaded into dedicated cargo ships.

*Which would mostly likely be heavy seaplanes like the Hughes H-4 Hercules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hughes_H-4_Hercules) in order to save on fuel, space that would otherwise be used for airports, and so on.

And what color will they be? Red is the most common now, but I've also seen green. What color will they be in a communist society?

A variety of bright, visible colours, such as yellow, red, light green and blue, mainly for safety reasons.

Of course, the above ideas are just that. Their might be a more effecient ways of doing things of course.

How will tractors be produced in a communist society?
By the workers;

Also, how will they be shipped?
On flatbeds; made by workers, driven by workers.

And what color will they be?
Tie-die.

You know, this really brings me back.

In my first week on this board, I answered a remarkably similar question by a cappie (long sinced banned). I don't think that KC was actually serious about this thread, but I can't resist referencing my old post:

I'd say it was the first post that got me any attention as a poster here so it has some sentimental value for me, even though some of the ideas are a little underdeveloped.

What do you want, it was two years ago!

How will tractors be produced in a communist society?

By knocking bits of metal together.

Also, how will they be shipped?

Via hot air balloon or if the farm is close we'll point them at it and let the hand-brake off.

What color will they be in a communist society?

The communist manifesto unfortunately doesn't say what specific colour tractors produced under communism will be. I get asked this all the time by non-communists and most cite the vagueness of this issue to be their reason they don't support communism. If you ask me Marx's biggest mistake was not telling us what colour tractors will be.

Aren't tractors currently yellow JCB ones? I think red definitely, to symbolise the overthrow of the JCB capitalist tractors and bring about a new age of communist people's tractors! :hammer:

Or we could all use hand ploughs? :P I saw some farmers ploughing their field with a couple of horses pulling a manual plough last week. Fascinating stuff. actually...they weren't ploughing, they were flipping over the stuff in the field so that it'd dry in the sun, interesting nonetheless.

When the Caterpillar plant in Uddingston Scotland was closed the workers staged an occupation. During the occupation they made a large earth-mover (I think it was an earth-mover) and painted it pink. I think it went to Africa during the time of the first live-aid. Maybe we should paint them all pink in honour of those workers who showed they didn't need bosses to make things and the fact that it was sent to where it was most needed. Solidarty in action.

Two years ago I was a little less concrete in my political "indentity". Despite what TAT may say, I can occasionaly change my mind. :P

I don't think the revolution would ever be effective if we're all in disaggreement over the colors.
It would be oppressive chaos!

The tractors should not be green. John Deere fucking sucks. I cannot go a day without seeing a John Deere tractor, shirt, sticker, or toothbrush. My neighbors have a John Deere tractor, and it is annoying. My grandparents have a red tractor, and it is good. Therefore red tractor trumps green tractor. Plus on John Deere tractors they paint the wheels yellow, which is counter-revolutionary.
