Greetings comrades! I present you with a rather simple question: As a Communist/Socialist/Hullist I realize that there is a need for a change, but what I have not concluded is a way to bring it about.

It seems today many people are all talk, but no walk. I can honestly say I am one of those people. I say we should do this, or we shouldn't do that, but the sad truth is I am still at home, living a capitlist life and not really doing much to change that.

I have however become a vegetarian, and I remain a member of the proletariat, I continued my persuit of knowledge, still openly protest several things, and exercise simple ways to perserve others rights. But simply to me thats not enough. I need something that produces results and because of it, I bear myself upon my comrades for help.

P.S. Is there any South Florida Socialist Committies or associations?

Nice to hear you want to get involved. The process is quite easy, im sure you have a pretty good idea what your politics are, so first find a group you more or less agree with, and simply get in contact. You almost definitely will be near someone.

Being a uk citizen, I can't say exactly what organisations there are in Florida, but I can direct you to some US organisations who probably have a branch near you. I have taken these as examples from this thread (http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?&act=ST&f=7&t=31615) there are many other US groups you might be interested in. Or alternatively you could start your own group.

Students for a Democratic Society (http://www.studentsforademocraticsociety.org/)
Broad based socialist student direct action group based across the whole of the US.

Communist League (http://www.communistleague.org/)
Classical Marxist organisation.

Socialist Alternative (http://www.socialistalternative.org/)
Trotskyist organisation and American section of the Committee for a Workers International (http://http://www.socialistworld.net/)

Industrial Workers of the World (http://www.iww.org/)
International union run directly by its members, promoting global solidarity and direct action for the abolition of capitalist wage slavery. Any member of a trade union can join: IWW - New York (http://bari.iww.org/~iww-nyc/)

International Socialist Organisation (http://www.internationalsocialistorg/indexshtml)
Trotskyist organisation.

Welcome! Glad to have you here. Don't worry, many many many other leftists have the same sorts of questions.

I'm really not all that knowledgable about socialist and communist groups in that area. Surely there are at least some "hands off Cuba & Venezuela" types of anti-imperialist organizations down there that might be worth getting involved with. I don't know.

Anti-Racist Action (http://www.antiracistaction.us/pn/) seems to be doing some great work lately. I don't know about South Florida, but there is already an Atlanta chapter in existence. In any case, you could always start up a new one down there.

There's also a small Southeast Anarchist Federation (http://www.infoshop.org/inews/article.php?story=20050615123228707) centered around Atlanta.

I don't know if any organizations exist for this down there yet, but I think something that really needs to be tackled is combatting Christian Fascism. And not just for purely defensive reasons, either. If communists can help diminish the influence of religion in society, then successful communist revolution is brought that much nearer.

I hope that helps! :)

If you know anything about HTML or other web coding languages you can start up another website. You can create your own chapter of ARA (Anti-Racist Action) in your home town, even if you guys initially just wear shirts with the logo in it, its a step forward for raising awareness.

I spend my time educating others, myself, and trying to get myself out of the system. There are a bunch of websites that try to show you how to do this, my favorite has to be Sean Kennedy's Patrolling (you can find his stuff on www.rantmedia.ca) but maybe thats just my paranoid side getting the best of me ^_^.

I just wanna say that the SDS is not a socialist organization, its more of a broad left "revolutionary" group. I put it in quote because i dont know if it is or not.

As for the league, there are quite a few members in florida.
