Sacco and Vancetti, El Salvador are also brilliant leftist songs. And Yellow Triangle.

Im not really into music - nor do i really know many artists.

But Ray Collins has a good song 'INLA' I tnink its called.

"followers of connolly they fight to bring us liberty, socialism we might see with the Inlaaaaa (as pernounced).......freedom fighters................fighting for the working class, the priest condems us at the mass, *something* will not defirm our task as Inlaaaaa..........freedom fighters."

"Connolly in head, Gun in hand, the working class will take a stand with the Inlaaaaaa.......freedom fighters"

"*Ear sig a jaw* (thats just what it sounds like) is our cry, the starry plough, our flag flys high, English tyranny we defy as Inlaaaa........freedom fighters"

Honestly, and even though I cant even sing it from start to end - thats one catchy and brilliant song.

One of my favourites of all time infact.

I just cant stop singing it on a daily basis

Another good song i remember is - I think - by the wolf tones.

"Oh rockall rockall youll never fall..........into British greedy hands"........." and the natural gas will burn their ass and blow them all to hell"

And, I cant resist another good one

"some say the divel is dead the divel is dead the divel is dead.....some say the divel is dead early in the morning..................more say he rose again, more say he rose again more say he rose again and joined the British army"

Another catch one clearly.

I know my memory is all fragmented

If you hate Christy coz of his musical style - we'll just have to differ.
If you hate him coz of the songs - I pity you.
If you hate him coz of the man - I see no reason.

Two words: "Ordinary Man"

I'm an ordinary man, nothing special nothing grand
I've had to work for everything I own
I never asked for a lot, I was happy with what I got
Enough to keep my family and my home

Now they say that times are hard and they've handed me my cards
They say there's not the work to go around
And when the whistle blows, the gates will finally close
Tonight they're going to shut this factory down
Then they'll tear it d-o-w-n

I never missed a day nor went on strike for better pay
For twenty years I served them best I could
Now with a handshake and a cheque it seems so easy to forget
Loyalty through the bad times and through good

The owner says he's sad to see that things have got so bad
but the captains of industry won't let him lose
He still drives a car and smokes his cigar
And still he takes his family on a cruise, he'll never lose
He'll never l-o-s-e

Well it seems to me such a cruel irony
He's richer now then he ever was before
Now my cheque is spent and I can't afford the rent
There's one law for the rich, one for the poor

Every day I've tried to salvage some of my pride
To find some work so's I might pay my way
Oh but everywhere I go, the answer's always no
There's no work for anyone here today, no work today
no work t-o-d-a-y

Break - 1st four lines

And so condemned I stand just an ordinary man
Like thousands beside me in the queue
I watch my darling wife trying to make the best of life
And God knows what the kids are going to do

Now that we are faced with this human waste
A generation cast aside
And as long as I live, I never will forgive
You've stripped me of my dignity and pride,
you've stripped me b-a-r-e,
You've stripped me b-a-r-e,
You've stripped me b-a-r-e...

And while you're at it, you should all check out Andy Irvine.

There were six men in Birmingham
In Guildford there's four
That were picked up and tortured
And framed by the law
And the filth got promotion
But they're still doing time
For being Irish in the wrong place
And at the wrong time
In Ireland they'll put you away in the Maze
In England they'll keep you for seven long days
God help you if ever you're caught on these shores
The coppers need someone
And they walk through that door

You'll be counting years
First five, then ten
Growing old in a lonely hell
Round the yard and the stinking cell
From wall to wall, and back again

A curse on the judges, the coppers and screws
Who tortured the innocent, wrongly accused
For the price of promotion
And justice to sell
May the judged be their judges when they rot down in hell

You'll be counting years
First five, then ten
Growing old in a lonely hell
Round the yard and the lousy cell
From wall to wall, and back again

May the whores of the empire lie awake in their beds
And sweat as they count out the sins on their heads
While over in Ireland eight more men lie dead
Kicked down and shot in the back of the head

You'll be counting years
First five, then ten
Growing old in a freezing hell
Round the yard and the lousy cell
From wall to wall, and back again

You'll be counting years
First five, then ten
Growing old in a lonely hell
Round the yard and the lousy cell
From wall to wall, and back again
