I've been skulking around this forum for a long time, but just decided to join now. I am of Egyptian decent and currently living in America. My father is a diplomat, so we travel a lot however most of my life has been spent in America, Egypt and Belgium. I've always had a strong dislike for the right-wing and how the United States conducts its "business", and I was introduced to the left side of the spectrum by a friend whose father was Chief of Police in Georgia (the country) during the Soviet Union era.
At first, I considered myself a Marxist, but lately the ideas of Anarcho-Communism have become more appealing to me. So I guess that as of now, I am an anarkyst. I still have not found a theory that I can completely agree with in all its aspects, but I hope that in joining this forum will help me learn a little more about which branch of leftist theory seems best to me. I also hope to make some new friends, learn more about various leftist theories and gain new ideas of how to (perhaps with other members of this board) fight capitalism and oppression, and help influence others to take off their chains and see the world in a new and broader perspective.
And I just really need a place to talk to people who aren't engulfed by capitalist propoganda, Hollywood and biased media, and from what I've seen and read here, this seems to be it.
