In a desperate attempt to stop the "mordaza law" wich is law that that prevents all right wing and violent propaganda from being showed on venezuelan tv.
(this being done to avoid another media guided coup like the one in April of 2002)

The american embassador to Venezuela Charles Shapiro made a public ceremony in his residence to "suport" the"free" press in Venezuela.

The gethering was very one sided especially since all of the reporters and writers were the same ones that took part in the coup.

The meeting folowed a little speach by Shapiro were he expresed the will of the USA to have a world with free and unbiased media (cnn;) )

After that one of the guests a comedian dressed up as president Chavez started to make a show for the other guests all this on like TV and in the face of Shapiro.

After that all of the invited including the embassador started chating antichavez slogans.

To say the least mr Shapiro's actions violated all the rules of diplomacy and the Geneva convention.

And most importantly showed how profesional and serious american politics really are.

Of course an official response from the venezuelan goverment was fast and very strong.

The US response in sintesis was: Ummm oh yeah we uh damn We are very angry with Mr Shapiro that is not the conduct for one of our dignyteries.

Oh and Mr Shapiro's response was pure gold: I wasn't informed about the presentation that was going to take place at my house.

Hey genius It was your idea, your house and your guests!

As you can expect nobody will ever take the "serious" american politicians seriously for a long time.

Hey did you here Ari Fleisher is history?

I would have loved to hear his take on the events.
