every sunday from 3pm at victoria park in sydney

in the last few months it has grown to about 20-30 people playing, and is much fun!

there's usually political discussion before and after, and afterwards people hit the pub ;)

although it grew out of the mutiny collective it's not restricted to anarchists or whatever so come if you feel like kicking a ball around for a coupla hours with politically active people ;)

ps it's 'radical' because the teams are made up of activists, not cos the rules are radically different or anything :P

Or, alternatively, if they are crap, you could always have a game of BUM. That game fucking rules....and if you can kick a ball hard, then you'll give a few people sore arses. :D

I was really excited at first but then you just dashed it all away.

I will definitely join up when I am in Sydney...

I went today, and actually - despite what rioters bloc said, the rules are actually pretty different.

There's no real limit to the size of a team, basically as many people turn up can play, though i suppose there might be a limit if say 50 people turned up or something :P

There is no boundaries, no sidelines. Just keep kicking!

Because there is no referee, well not because, but there's no real stoppages in play (except immediately after a goal for the restart), no fouls (but yeah, the game was played - and should be- played in an extremely friendly manner, everyone was apologising at even the slightest of knocks), so no free kicks, handballs are legal (but obviously not encouraged, there's just no free kick awarded for one), no offside... and maybe a few other things ive forgotten.

I had heaps of fun today, really good close game, and the lack of rules dont detract from it all, perhaps it might have if we were playing on a full-size pitch, but since this is just in the park, it really doesnt make much difference.

Oh and i cant resist mentioning this because, yeah i usually suck at football, i got one goal and set-up another! :D

Yay!

Definately gonna be there next weekend (well i'm trying to get out of my shift!)

are there any soccer leagues made up of leftists who play by the regular rules?

I'd love to play with comrades, but the crusty no rules, no boundaries theme sounds boring as shite.

I know that in california in the usa a team of communists played the anarchists, Kronstadt fc. I'm pretty sure they played by regular soccer rules.

oh yeah lol, there are no 'rules' as such but this is pretty much the only way i've ever played soccer (except when i played club back like 4 years ago) so i forget that it's not "real" soccer :P i mean really, how much more fun is it without sidelines, especially when you're sandwiched in between another two games!

a great way to meet other activists, i love the fact that the ages of the people playing were between 3 and 45 :P and we had a dog too! (but she's moving to perth today :()

anyway, can't wait til next week!
