International Day of Action to demand the closure of the US Guantánamo Prison.
Protest US abuses, deaths and illegal imprisonment
The deaths of Saudis, Manie Shaman Turki Al-Habardi Al-Utaybi, 30, and Yasser Talal Al-Zahrani, 21, and Yemeni national, Ali Abdullah Ahmed, 28, at the US naval base of Guantánamo Bay on June 10 have intensified calls for the war-on-terror prison camp to be closed.
Hunger strikes, recent suicides and the account of many former Guantánamo prisoners have brought to the world’s attention the sadistic abuses prisoners are put through. Such practices can only be compared to Nazi Germany and medieval Inquisition practices.
Since the beginning of the US so called ‘war on terror,’ human rights activists have denounced US activities. Human rights campaigners are now joined by a number of governments and legal organisations in condemning torture and demanding the closure of the US naval base of Guantánamo.
Join the voices of protest and demand:
- A full independent inquiry into the deaths at Guantánamo
- Repatriation of all Guantánamo detainees
- Closure of Guantánamo
Speakers: David Burnie (NSW Council for Civil Liberties), Brett Collin (Justice Action), Sylvia Hale (Greens MLC), Andrew Ferguson (CFMEU), Anna Samson (StWC), & Raul Bassi (Justice for Hicks & Habib).
