How about this? A traffic light system that is based on advanced nueral networks, where the traffic flux rates at differing times are continously feeding into a dynamic database. As the database grows the computer system will be able to predict and discern when to change lights to keep traffic flowing. This system will employ fuzzy logic in order to make on the fly decisions about what to do and will draw from past and present patterns to make real-time decisions in a dynamic way. Instead of having some genius go out and watch and intersection for a day and time the light based on one day's events, each light will record flowrates, feed that information into a network and help lights further downstream decided when to activate/deactivate. What do you think?
