Do you recall Iron Eagle, the movie? In it, Doug Masterss father, an F-16 fighter pilot, was shot down on a routine assignment over a generic Arab nation run by a Saddam Hussein style dictator, and was taken prisoner and brutally tortured. His rogue son who was aspiring to become a fighter pilot himself, but showed difficulty with authority and discipline, caught wind of this developing international incident which directly effected his family. Therefore, he resorted to the only logical plan of action, which was, stealing an F-16 with the help of his fathers friend Chappy (played by Louis Gosset Jr.). Chappy taught young Masters the discipline that he needed to single handedly waste the Middle East and all of their crappy airmen while the tune of Steve Windwoods Gimme Some Lovin was blaring in his ears on his new-fangled walkman. In case you are wondering, our hero succeeded in teaching a ruthless autocrat a valuable lesson about f*cking with the United States, saved his wounded fathers life, proved that he had what it took to fly sophisticated military hardware with live ordnance, and defeated his own personal bully. All in all, the movie was astonishingly gay, complete with the appropriate montage backed with Quiet Riots Were Not Going to Take it. However, it does touch on the importance of setting any battle to an impressive soundtrack. However, this might be a little subjective, as I dont necessarily think that the makers of Iron Eagle created a winning mix.

It is well known that the United States military uses heavy metal psy-ops when confronting backward people across the globe who might not be familiar with electric guitars and distortion effects. The effectiveness of this tactic is determined by the menacing nature of the music involved, the ability of our troops to immediately track trajectories, and neutralize those threats to grant our men the upper hand on the battlefield. As a tribute the recent successes of all branches of the Armed Forces I compiled a psy-ops top forty list. Not only should the sounds create fear in our enemies, but in most cases, the music should inspire violent feelings and raw excitement, and really resonate with military personnel, as they are engaging the human filth that threaten The Constitution of the United States of America and the people who live under our system. The following is a quick list. Feel free to add to it and provide any suggestions or feedback.

Yes...let's psychologically torture our "enemies" (although the Iraqis have done nothing to me) while we essentially brainwash "our" troops.

Sounds like a great plan for such a free country.

Militaries cannot be democtaritc. They must employ the use of dictatorship. I mean can you imagine: "OK men, the Colonel says we we have to take that bridge over there. You agree? Lets take a vote!". Troops need some level of brainwashing, or at least something to distract them from their arduous task to make them more able to finish off the enemy with less concenr for their own lives.

I think you hit the nail on the head, but there are a few other songs that just don't fit. Namely the Hendrix version of Star Spangled Banner and War Pigs. Can you say doublethink?

Why don't you just bang your head against a wall repeatedly? It has the same effect as listening to a lot of those songs.

There's a difference between military discipline and psychological destruction.

It wouldn't suprise me if U.S. soldiers actually take proud in being called "war pigs".

well you can say what you like about the song choice and the irony but i must admit that before doing any action i always listen to some music and it does help. If possible i try to listen to some awsome music during whartever it is im doing. Music is important as it touches you at very basic emotional level.
