what do we do about political opposition?

i mean, if people is a country don't want socialism then socialism won't happen. in somewhere like america, the people don't want socialism they want free enterprise. maybe in 20 or so years when capatalism gets to the stage of have's and have-nots they might want it. but there will always be be who oppose communism and there will always be a significant amount of them. so what should be done?

personally, i think freedom is more important than socialism. i'd rather live in a country that was less than perfect economically, but where people had the right to strike, protest, voice opposing idealogies, run for election and have freedom of speech and freedom of the press. to me, democracy, real democracy and freedom of speech and thought is more important. i'd hate to live in a society where there is no material need, but where there is no freedom. socialism needs democracy like the body needs oxygen is my favorite quote.

what do you think?

I think I agree with you.

The "real" revolution won't occur before the majority of the population realizes the sickness of wage slavery, the function of the state, boredom of compulsory schooling, etc. etc.

Opposing the system doesn't necesseraly make you a communist, but you're still a revolutionary.

There is always opposition in the people before, during, and after a revolution. Take the American Revolution for an example. There were the Patriots and the Loyalists.

The Patriots did some pretty nasty things to shut the Loyalists up. One common thing was pouring tar all over them and covering their bodies with feathers. But you never really hear much about this nowadays due to American propaganda in schools trying to make America seem perfect.

Opposition has to be confronted. It can't be tolerated if you want the revolution to be a success. The end justifies the means.

That will depend. After capitalism has collapsed, people will have to turn elsewhere and communism will probably at the top of their list.

Their may still be some reactionaries after the revolution but they will definitely be the minority just as we are the minority today.
