This is my thread which I dedicate to bands/artists who have achieved marginal success, but never to the degree that they so clearly diserve.

I would like to get the ball rolling with the amazing Porcupine Tree, the amazing prog-rock band.

This thread never achieved the success it deserved ;)

I would actually say Supergrass, Backdoor Slam, Ocean Colour Scene, Steve Harley (victim of his "one hit wonder")...ooh there are plenty better ones, I will think on this.

In prog-rock circles especially, but when you consider how big other bands get, then you see how little recongition bands like porcupne Tree get.

I doubt more than say 5 people on this forum know of porcupine tree.

They have loads of good songs and 8 studio albums, 2 live albums, three compilations and five limited edition albums. So there is a shit load to choose from.

I would say my favorate songs are: -

Four Cords That Made A Million,
Piano Lessons,
Lazarus,
Slave Called Shiver,
Stop Swimming,
Shes moved on,
Blackest Eyes,
The Sky Moves Sideways (Alternate version)
Voyage 34 (very long and very odd)
Burning Sky

the best album IMO is Stupid Dream.

I would agree with including Supergrass into this catagory. I swear I heard one of their songs on a commerical though? That could be a complete figmint of my imagination...

However most good bands are never even played and obtain marginal status. Cearly status should not correlate with succcess.
