I know this is a ridiculous scenario, but it's interesting to see what people see as the most important books etc... just go along with it. If you find it too strange, please just ignore it, rather than giving me shit over it. Cheers. ;)

Picture this.
We have destroyed the world to such a degree that it is soon to become inhospitable, and the governments of the world have decided to send sixty thousand randomly chosen young children to an Earth-like planet that we have discovered, and it takes only 10 years to get there.

It has enough buildings survived from a previous civilization that once existed there, and has hundreds of videos and leaflets on healthcare and how to become a doctor, as well as training videos on mining and extraction techniques. It also has videos on food-gathering techniques and videos on how to create thousands of types of machinery and computers and tools, as well as videos teaching all we know about meteorology, oceanography, climate etc.

It does not however, mention any religion, or the Big Bang theory or provide any possible reason for why we exist. All the children will know is that they came from a planet called Earth, which has a long, interesting History, of which they know nothing.

You have been placed in charge of the books that go with them. As 60,000 copies of each book will need to be sent (one for each child,) you can only choose 10 books that exist on Earth at this very moment. They can be anything you choose, assume all the children can already read, but think how these books could affect a brand new civilisation.
Offer a brief explanation why you have chosen each one, or a longer explanation if you believe it necessary...
