I don't think many people even were aware that he had gone to Bolivia until the reports arrived that he was dead.

Anyways, I don't think the media coverage was all that extensive in Bolivia especially when you had the Vietnam War going on.

That's true. The war in Vietnam was pretty hot at that time and besides, the revolutionary movement in Bolivia was a very secret one. Che didn't want the CIA to find out where he was! They eventually did and he died as a result.
