I was surfing the net and found this, what do you think?

I know the BBC isn't perfect but it's not bad and it gives me hope that some Americans are turning to this side of the pond for news coverage. However I worry that this kind of more hionst and impartial news is not reaching the people who need it most, all those Americans who have no access to the truth, just endless propaganda.

Yes, mentalbunny, the BBC site is the best bourgeois news site that I have found and the only one I visit once or twice every day.
But it is still pretty bad; their coverage of events in Venezuela was evidently written by a bunch of people who never left the cocktail lounge of some four-star hotel in Caracas...hardly a word about the people of the streets but endless yap from the anti-Chavez elite. It was embarrassing.
I recommend the indy-media affiliates...they're not perfect but they at least try to get it right.

The only news I trust is from the KCNA. They don't cover much so I look at all other news as I can see some of the bourgeois slant or lies.

I agree with Redstar and metalbunny. As far as a cappie news agency goes, the BBC is pretty good. It is much better than CNN, MSNBC, or dare I say it, Fox, whom I regulaly have nightmares about

Oh god, watching CNN for to long can make you suicidal! The propaganda is honestly so easy to see through but yet so many people buy it. Fuck the USA!

For those of you who need a more independent take on the news in the U$, I would highly recommend National Public Radio. They usually try to cover all perspectives on each story they run, assuming it's a socially controversial one. If you're interested, check out their website (http://npr.org). Follow the link at the top of the screen to "find a station." I've never been anywhere there wasn't at least one member station. (All of their programming is syndicated.)

why do the American people put up with all the obvious propaganda bullshit their news networks feed them? Americans arent stupid and im sure they can see it as clearly as we can.
The news shouldnt be about oppionions it should be about fact, this is how the truth gets lost. The BBC does seem to be pretty neutral to any side and just presents the facts but how can you be sure?

The Americans obey their television sets, that's why rumblefish.
I don't think BBC is that bad at all, far better than any of the US news channels I've seen, which basically consist of a very small window with lots of stock prices and ticker crap scrolling through it. BBC is quite neutral on the Israel/Palestine issue, they keep the debate to both sides, and reports from both sides. I don't think it would be wise for a service such as the BBC to start taking views on international issues.

happyguy, I hadn't really thought about the Israel Palestine issue but you're right.
praxis, thanks for the info and link!

I completely agree with Disgustipated.
Before I got on line, I used to listen to NPR on a regular basis and found it as irritating in its own way as CBS, NBC, or CNN.
Those incredibly smug, oily voices which always seemed to have a subtext--"we're not whores like all those other guys"--always left me thinking: Oh, yes, you are!

The BBC has had infinitely better, more accurate, and less biased reporting of the news than any US News media source for as long as I have been reading both side by side. Evidently they still have this thing in Great Britain call “Freedom of the Press”, which reporters here in the US are being systematically and “as a rule” fired for expressing lately.
Props to the BBC for their unbiased reporting of many of the facts revolving around this Iraqi massacre.
I also enjoy reading the discussion forums that the BBC holds about various issues, under the “Have Your Say” link at their site. Have aaany of you checked those out? If not, then please do (There are several topics that have discussions going under them – take you pick at this link – and even though none of my responses have ever ultimately made it to the forum, the topics as well as the replies in there are most times priceless): http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/default.stm
Chairman Mao – Please post the link for KCNA. I would love to check that site.
Another great source of news that is absolutely NOT giving any Imperialistic slant, rather it is reporting quite the opposite – is www.truthout.com – check that site too. There are reports there that I have never seen reported by any other media source that I regularly read.
I Agree with everything that Fever had to say including (NO Especially) the part about Fuck the USA!
rumblefish86 – in answer to your question about why American people put up with all the obvious propaganda bullshit their news networks feed them: It has been my recent observation that MOST of the US American people have been turned into brain-dead sheep who have successfully been brainwashed by the bullshit fed to them. It is almost as if the masses here have all undergone a group lobotomy – no lie.
Again - Chairman Mao (or anyone else who knows this info) – Please post the link for KCNA. I would love to check that site. Maybe even post this in a separate topic – we all need to know whatever is out there that is a reliable and unbiased news source. Post this site for al of us to know the link – Please.
And also Again – Capitalist bourgeois nation or not, the people of the UK have obviously stood up against this insanity in much greater numbers than the people of the US, as well as the fact that Tony Blair did NOT impose totalitarian Fascist type laws against the citizens of the US as were imposed here in the US at the hands of our government. Media reporters have even been fired in this realm, and private citizens and legal residents of the US have been “legally, die to the new laws passed here since 9/11) imprisoned without having been charged for any crime. This is quite literally tuning into a Police State here, and Freedom of Speech has been specifically forbidden in my country.
I HATE this country and ALL that it stands for. I was born here in Chicago (The US) and I am also white/Caucasian by race– for those of you who are not US American and/or also not Caucasian by race – please do NOT judge all of us by the ma0jority of the seemingly lobotomized and/or subhuman idiots out there.
YET Again (one more encore Props to the UK (even though their government is also Capitalist Pig by design and practice) for continuing to allow freedom of the press, and to the BBC for continuing to practice freedom of the press – I am sure the people of the UK had much to do with that by the massive opposition there to this massacre in Iraq. You all know as well that there was a far greater turn out against this in the UK than here in the US. This also makes a difference. I still give props to the BBC, as I have a whole lot of trouble reading the German language sites. I also comment Al-Jazeera for developing an English language site in the face of all th9is shit! That is particularly to be commended by me personally. love the Al-Jazeera English language site.
AND someone please post the link for this KCNA news site that Chairman Mao mentioned.
Check www.truthout.com too, as a news source – it is priceless
The BBC “Have Your Say” topics are always interesting and worth reading too: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/talking_point/default.stm

You know the BBC was accused of being anti-war? I find that quite amusing. I can see mwhat people mean but I reckon they were just telling the truth.

I'm assuming you know what KCNA is. I don't think most people here would like the news from KCNA. Anyway this is the link:
www.kcna.co.jp
They don't have mush news, only cover a few issues, some days are far better than others. Their coverage is considerably different to western or indeed most other media. They only ever had 2 articles on September 11th for example.
