In conjunction with the Red-Left free weekly publication that will be produced later this year, there will also be a series of posters that will be fly-posted around.
Here are a few designs that we have come up with so far, let me know what you think.

Well they are extremely simple. also the pictures of the product arent really integrated enough with the text and stuff. theyre just kinda lost in grea tbig white expanse. Als the lettering is extremely dodgy and simple. perhaps something more "urban" or "reovlutionary".

Will "urban" and "revolutionary" catch peoples attention?
What you said about being "advertisy" isnt that a good thing? I mean the people who for a career do advertising do it in a way that will get people to buy or whatever so this way it will get peoples attention and take notice.
I thought a simple approach would be effective.
Do you reckon you could edit one of mine do I can see easier what you are talking about? That would be really helpfull.
Cheers for the input though.

This is a rapid version of it. i started again from scratch because there wasent that much on yours it is neither perfect nor very good. however it illustrates the point i was trying to make: It has a much stronger focal point, it reads more apealingly and contains more imagery: something that immediately attracts the eye more. Furthermore even though its still very sketch it doesnt look like something somone made on a type writter then stck pictures on. Now a days, for better or for wrst people want clean, plasticky corporate images, things that look non threatening appealing and legitimate. i'm not defending this way of looking at things im just saying.

As a simple rule of thumb this is true. however i think there is an important factor you need to take into account: the "i cant possibly do that myself" factor. Even if they can it doesent mtter: so long as it looks like its not soemthing they themselves might be bale to make in word in about five minutes its fine.
I think what really kills your designs is the font and the borders. If the font was something less clichéd than i think it wouly be better. Similarly with out the border it might look better too. whats more drop the images: theyre way to pixelated for a flyer. Oh and forget colour.

Whats wrong with using colour though?

In itself nothing wrong with using colour. But unless your te emir of Qatar or something i doubrt you have the funds to print out significannt numbers of copies of your flyer in colour. So design withouth the coulour: youll get a better idea of the final design.

Fair point though, I do earn a fair wage and don't pay any rent or bills (no I don't live with my family! lol)
