Every year during the school years there are literally thousands of demonstrations on the streets of Santiago, they are from the students, mainly from public schools from 10 to 12 grade, and also the confederations of university students. This protests range from lots of topics but the main ones have been the locomotion fare for students, student credits and the education reform.

The most recent one, and I'm talking yesterdat involved students majorly from Universities but also students from public schools were there solidarizing with them, the topic: "Student Loans"

A little background, Since the majority of the population in Chile, and most of the world, are poor and they cant afford the expensive carrers (Medicine: 3.000.000 pesos, 1 dollar=700 pesos), so the Government gives out Loans to exceptional students, they consist of the full scholarship and you ahve to pay within the third year of employment.

The problem lays here, this loans are dissapearing along with the Universities owned by the State. Private Universities are more numerous and even more prestigeous than the traditional universities, and they are Opus Dei (The extreme wing of the catholic church with strong ties with the extreme right parties) and the fees are really high, also they are very racist, if you dare to speak against them or in favor of any left wing governemnt you are inmediately expeld.

Five years from now there will be no more loans to the poor students trying to get head, private universities would have taken over the education system and hence over the future of our country.

This proves that privatization is a phony from a total monopoly of a certain field, the moeny buys he votes in the Senate and the Parlamient.
