I am an atheist, but I've been reading on liberation theology. It has the strongest roots in Latin America, yet also in America it is a tiny yet growing movement. A quote from a book I have at home,

"I stress this context lest the the impression be given that liberation theology is an exclusively Latin American reality. Nothing could be further from the truth; liberation theology exists where there is oppression, and there are few parts of the globe, as a consequence, where movements for liberation are not this day growing in size and intensity- South Africa, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Singapore, China, Pacific Rim nations, India, not to mention articulations of liberation theology within our own shores by African Americans, feminists and womanists, Hispanics, gays and lesbians, and many others."

So, if you know of liberation theology, what do you think of it in todays world and the fight against capitalism?

Liberation theology is an attempt to reform religion, which is naturally corrupt and illogical, into something that works towards communism. Reformism only succeeds if the system isn't inheirently flawed - rather than partially flawed - and, consequently, liberation theology is destined to fail.

YES, you are right, but it is not mere reformism, it advocates the power against unjust social structures, namely, capitalism. How it aims to do that is quite utopian, but it is nonetheless interesting to read. thanks for the responses comrades
