I have heard little of them and would like to know more. Any opinions on them or links to information? Thanks

They are maoist rebels.

They had the most power in the 8o's but Fujimori managed to almost end the movement by capturing their leader.

They did important attaks such as the kidnaping of diplomatic officials in the japanese embassy.

Right now they have little to no power.

They are only working as "residual" pockets of resistance that occasionaly do some attacks like the car bombings during Bush's visit to Peru.

I've heard they are among the most ruthless revolutionaries ever. Apparently, (I heard this from a VERY questionable source) the punishment for treason is beheading.

Here are some links. some of them are CIA type studies so don't focus that on their opinion.
