Hey bros and sises.
I listened to a show on Radio 4 last night called the Moral maze. They do a different topic every week with 4 people discussing to 3 guests. The only problem is that they always have some bloody Daily Hatemail scribe and some disgraced Tory MP (always believers in objective morality!)
Anyway, last night they discuss patriotism, and Michael Portillo, when asked if he would save 100 British or 101 Mesotho for example, he brazenly said he would save the 100 Brits!
He said that he would feel a "common ground with the brits", which I thought was a little bit Fascistic (he was in the Thatcher govt after all!)
I feel no patriotism for England at all. It is just a mass of land in the middle of the North sea and it is responsible for Cecil Rhodes and Margaret Thatcher. We are, in short, a totalitarian nanny state with more blood on our hands than there is in the entire mass of the human races' veins.
I do however feel a certain affection for York. Don't ask me why, I just do
