Wow...those pictures are beautiful. Too bad this gorgeous landscape has been infilitrated by American warhawks.

And the chuffin Taliban.
Nice pictures, anyway. The one of the building structure in the cliff is amazing.

Does the last picture in the first post show the place where Buddha's statue was, before they destroyed it?
Unfortunately, yes. The Buddhas of Bamiyan:

Quite an unfortunate incident. However, they are rebuilding the largest two:

The Picture on your second post, where there is a large line of rusted/broken down tanks, those don't look like the Modern American Abram are they from the soviet war?

No, they are definitely old soviet tanks. Come back in a few years for American ones...
...and in reply to WUOrevolt, I totally agree. I flew over Afghanistan back in April, and, well, words can't describe, and the pictures, struggle to. I'd love to visit oneday.
Very nice looking place.
Don't care about the massive buddhas, we got photos of it so I don't mind.

Why do you say that? Buddhism is a reactionary religion, even less compatable with progressive politics than most.

Feudalism is reactionary too, but I don't think every building or castle build pre-idustrial revolution should be destroyed.
I personally think it's a shame they were destroyed, regardless of any religious nonsense attached to them, they were lovely creations, rare, unique, not to mention the amount of effort that must have gone into it...

Something about the snow, contrasting with the desert...

Definately not what you'd usually think about when you hear about Afghanistan.
Some of these pictures remind me of the mountains of Norway. Though Afghanistan has more desert, of course.

Aye, Pakistan is often attributed to the mountains if you ever look up it's landscape. But Afghanistan is far more beautiful, especially when you consider that the pakistan mountains are just the lower ends of the afghani mountain ranges...
Shame about all the war :(

Thanks for sharing these magnificant pictures Additives Free. I was wondering if you are an Afghan yourself, and if you live there? And how did you get these pictures anyway? Did you made them yourself?
PS: You might as wel put some photo's of Laghman and the "Taqe Zafar" how it was before, and how it is now.

That's cool but, wouldn't you have to be somewhat careful considering the situation there?

Ofcourse I have to because it's still not as safe as it's supposed to be. But I'm willing to take that risk. :)
Given the chance, I would take the risks of going just aslong as I could witness that fantastic scenery.
