What's your opinion on the CPUSA. I used to be part of the YCL. I think they don't really reflect anything of communists in America in the 21st century and need massive overhaul. Comments?

I don't know much about the CPUSA, can you give us some links? I am member of SPUSA and a YPSL. ;)

Here is their website:
CPUSA (http://www.cpusa.org/)
CPUSA is one of the main Communist parties and has suffered harshly from the McCarthyist era.
They're basically reformist and call for a peaceful transition to socialism in the US and reject violence.
So you won't find many members here who look favorably on them.

They're stupid and don't deserve to call themselves communists.
"Just vote democrat" isn't revolutionary!

That was one of my big problems with them.

The CP is now just a radical wing of the Democrats. They propagate the dead-end "Anybody But Bush" strategy.
However, negative blanket judgments like "they're stupid" aren't helpful, as there are no doubt CP members who genuinely want to change the system. The problem is that this country has a very weak, secretive, dysfunctional, and compromised collection of "radical left" sectlets that have no connections to working people and have resigned themselves to promoting banal identity politics and extolling the virtues of socialist Cuba.
BTW, search Google for the world "sectlet" as I did (to make sure it's a real word) and you'll find that it is almost entirely used to describe left-wing groups.

No, but any step towards the left in America (no matter how miniscule) must be welcomed.
Perhaps they're being realistic rather than revolutionary.
There is no point screaming for a revolution if no-one is listening (or perhaps that should be 'prepared to admit your listening').
It is better to get the best out of a situation, than be dogmatic and never achieve anything.
