I hate crust punk, it's just really shitty music.

Bands like Dead Kennedys, Adolescents, Bad Brains, Nerve Agents, Choking Victim, Suicide Machines, Minor Threat, Reagan Youth, State, and even old classics like the Ramones are what rock my boat. I could go on for a long time listing all the punk (and subgenre) bands I listen to, so let's not get into it.

A-F have a similar quality to R.A.T.M in that they can totally piss me off and make me wana paint a wall with a cop's brains (I have this feeling most of the time with Tony Blair!)
I saw this band in Bath (not very revolutionary, I know, but yano) in the Porter Butt (excellent pub venue if you're ever in Bath) called Stoyic. They're good. Alot like Rise Against. And their singer's hot

You are misinterpreting the entire concept of punk I think- I don't care if it doesn't have a political message, in fact, sometimes I prefer that. You may call bands like Pisschrist and Bullshit Propaganda reactionary conuter-revolutionary blaa blaa because of anti-communist lyrics, but the fact of the matter is punk is breaking away from everything and everyone which insists on making people conform, even fellow punks.

I'm an anarcho-primitivist because I can't stand anything that tells me how to think or act- i.e.- civilisation. I can't stand it. Although in practice I'm an anarcho-syndicalist. Punk too resists everything that tells people how to think and act. The church, the Stalinists, capitalists, bosses, principals, Nazis, rap gagstas, druggies, hardcore straightedge PC fucks, cops, they're all the same to me. That's why I like that Casualties song-

"Committed from the beginning
There is no fucking turning back
Forgotten youth, just wastes away
Always forward, never look back
Break all the fucking barriers
This street noise is all we've got
Fury and fucking anger
No more rules for the punx
Fuck you no rules for me
Fuck you I do as I please
Fuck you no rules for me
Fuck you I do as I please
Make some noise
Piss 'em off
Fuck 'em up
THATS PUNK ROCK!
Make some noise
Piss 'em off
Fuck 'em up
THATS PUNK ROCK!
So straight edge is the way
I go out and drink all day
Tell me to shut up and drink
I'll stay sober and eat my beans
If being vegan is the way
I'll eat hot dogs in your face
So you hate the PC crew
I write a peace song just for you
Fuck you no rule for me
Fuck you I do as I please
Fuck you no rules for me
Fuck you I do as I please
Too many rules
Fuck their rules
So you hate the spikey hair
I'l grow me Mohawk and make you stare
All these rule you have created
Won't force the kids just for your sake
So get it through your fucking head
It's up to you what to eat and drink
Miliant closed-minded fools
You're the church and schools of the youth"

I'm not going to tell you not to listen to Green Day, but I think you shouldn't anyway- they suck! And Nausea isn't street punk ?!?

kaaos_af
19th June 2006, 08:42
Onlyone crusty- that is not a party- listen to their lyrics though-

Stomp the Crust

Proud to live in Denver, Proud to be Working Class
Skinheads go to work all day while crusties sit on their ass
Their idea of a good day's work
is beggin' for change and rollin' in the dirt
but we lift weights and cut our hair
when the aggro starts you know we'll be there

<Chorus>
STOMP THE CRUST
that's what we're gonna do
Skinheads out for blood and we're coming for you
STOMP THE CRUST
Skinhead Pride
Dirty Crustballs get taken for a ride

We train for combat and we're ready for a fight
on the streets of Denver we rule the night
We're proud of our city and we're gonna keep it clean
Skinheads are gonna get you leaches out of our scene
You complain about the system but offer no real escape
There's nothing revolutionary about living like an ape
Preaching liberal shit and chanting 'fight the power'
scared to death someone might make you shower

<Chorus>

STALINGRAD

Fighting in the bitter cold, on the banks of the Volga we make our stand/ The Fascist invader must be stopped, we give our lives for the Motherland

chorus- Stalingrad, we answer comrade Stalin's call/ Stalingrad, the city on the Volga will not fall/

We advance on the enemy lines, through a battlefield of fire and snow/ not a step back as we sound the charge, killing fascists as we go

chorus

We have the invaders completely surrounded, and our forces are closing in/ We smash Von Paulus' sixth army, and now we're on the march straight to Berlin

Workers of the World, Unite!

The land of opportunity is a bourgeois lie, you have the opportunity to be exploited 'til you die.

The Capitalist system works against you, exploiting the workers to benefit the few.

You'll work your whole life to make someone else rich, Freedom under Capitalism is a fucking myth!

Unite> 3x

If you're scared of revolution the systems already won, b/c "Politics flow from the barrel of a gun"

Pacifism is a tool of the propertied class, it keeps the proletarians too afraid to fight back.

They offer a world of distractions to occupy your mind, to keep you ignorant, to keep you blind

<chorus>

Nationalist lies to fool the poor, to keep them ignorant of the CLASS WAR

from the Factories to the Fields the fight remains the same, only in solidarity can the workers break their chains.

It has been done before, it will be done again. Workers Unite! you have a world to win!

THe best punk came from Northern Ireland - geographically prejudiced comment but prejudice is true for once:

Undertones,
Stiff Little Fingers
Outcasts
Rufrex
Protex...and many more..
and lets add the Starjets - just about punk.

If there was a God he should bless them all: fun, serious, fast, simple, loud, subtle...brilliant the lot of them.

Or I could reach that conclusion by acknowledging their influence in Anarcho-Punk/Crust/Grindcore, their musicianship in their last albuns (a weird sort of free-form Punk) or simply by their actions as a band (which include the creation of a fake tape, that caught an whole lot of attention by the CIA or simply sabotaging several magazines at the time).
But it´s granted that there are an whole lot of bands that are superior to them.

acknowledging their influence in Anarcho-Punk/Crust/Grindcore,

Phil Collins has had a big impact and influence on all kinds of music, that don't make him worth listening to. Not to mention that with out exception every band I have heard from the genres you have stated have been utter shit.

I guess our tastes differ, but seriously when i listen to bands like crass I just here incoherant noise.

I must say I'm in total agreement with Enigma, crass are awful. The music is just complete trash (and I at times do have a fairly high threshold for bad music, I don't expect virtuoso caliber music certainly not from a punk band but I do expect something better than crass and hopefully some melody) and does so much to detract from the content of the lyrics that it renders them practically useless.

There's lots of great punk out there and plenty with good lyrical content.

I'm a real big fan of punk and ska, especially the politically engaged bands such as Cheap Sex, Suicide Machines, Operation Ivy, etc. That is what got me thinking about politics, and the world around me. Music is a great tool to spread the word about injustices going on in the world. It can also be a way to get news out there because the American news stations are so one-sided. They only show the point of view from the American perspective, which leads to misimformation. The goverment is too overbearing in the mainstream media today, but what do you expect, it's the U.S.

Proud to live in Denver, Proud to be Working Class
Skinheads go to work all day while crusties sit on their ass
Their idea of a good day's work
is beggin' for change and rollin' in the dirt
but we lift weights and cut our hair
when the aggro starts you know we'll be there

<Chorus>

<Chorus>

<chorus>

Nationalist lies to fool the poor, to keep them ignorant of the CLASS WAR

from the Factories to the Fields the fight remains the same, only in solidarity can the workers break their chains.

It has been done before, it will be done again. Workers Unite! you have a world to win!
Jeez, these "communist" skins confuse me.... if you look at their pictures they are hanging out with a dude who has a fucking American flag in the background (also another where they're shopping for fucking beer, way to fight capitalism).... now, excuse me if I'm wrong, but if communism=no state, why the fuck are they saying stupid stuff supporting the USSR, whose citizens were no more brainwashed than those slaving away under the rule of Nazi Germany? The Soviet Union was just as imperialistic as Hitler's Regime ... Stalin was just as much a greedy, paranoid fascist as Hitler. Get a job? Get a fucking education.

I love Discharge. They took punk/hardcore to a new intensity and spawned bands like Napalm Death. For me Discharge and Napalm is protest music at its best and the cynical edge in the Discharge lyrics made the message more powerful. When you use music to rage against capitalism, for me, it helps when the music is as hard hitting as the lyrics. Hail Discharge!

This Machine Kills Faschist

We've run out of patience,
You've run out of time !
This scene will not fall victim
To your violence or lies.

Your "values" are nothing
But excuses to start fights.
Quit fronting like you're standing
For a moral cause tonight...

United as one, we won't stand aside,
You tried to fuck with our scene... We're gonna fuck your life !!!

This machine, this machine. This machine... THIS MACHINE,
KILLS FUCKING FASCISTS !
Dead... That's right, DEAD !

You don't have to be a rascist,
To be a nazi, fuck !
Your mindless nationalism
Gives you credentials enough.

You spew your right wing rhetoric,
When we got your attention...
You've mistaken the punk scene
For the Republican Convention !

No more infiltration, no more right wing lies,
You don't belong in our scene... We'll fight you till we die !!!

This machine, this machine. This machine... THIS MACHINE,
KILLS FUCKING FASCISTS !

All skinheads are fucked if you ask me. More hair than brains.
There's many different types of skinheads out there, even anarchist ones. Don't go generalizing an entire subculture based on your opinions of a few skinheads. [/b]
The first skinheads in Britain was only Jamaica and other foriegn lands.

The original Skrewdriver (1977-1983) were cool, I think their music really captures the atmosphere of the punk scene at the time. To bad they're completely overlooked as racists, all because their later manifestation :(

I love punk. Matter of fact, the other day I stumbled on an online punk rock radio station that kicks ass! www.punkradiocast.com (http://www.punkradiocast.com)

Sorry, just thought I'd share my findings with some fellow punks.
