Those ****s get to decide which bands they put on the shelves (which is understandable) but their basis if family values instead of quality. I can go in there, and find every single Backstreet Boys album but I can't find one Marilyn Manson. It disgusts me.

Why would you want to find a Marilyn Manson album?

Walmart just put out what the record companies want. There phlosiphy is to flood the market with similar sounding "bands" (I prefer to call them a conglomerate of amateur instrument players, they don't desirve the title of musician). Some of them make it big, some flob, some do average. This apples to all major record companies, some of the indys have good stuff but even the larger indys are putting out some crap now (A lot of stuff on Roadrunner dosen't impress me that much, thats just an opinion of course). That is why no band will ever again be as big as Metallica.
The kiwi version of Walmart, The Warehouse, is pritty good, I got Iron Maiden Live at Donnington from there yesterday, cheap too.

I once found a Totalitar CD at a Kmart. I was blown out.
It's like picking up Iron Maiden at a christian shop in Western Australia

You should really always check pawn shops first for CDs.

Or independent record shops. Don't call me petty bourgeois, but if Im' in a new city I look for independent record, book, music, etc shops. Often a better selectionthan bloody HMV! There's a wicked record shop in Frome, where I live, and if you're ever in (English) Boston, try Nevermind the music store.
Anyone been to Nottingham? Best record shop in the WORLD!!!! (and cheap)

if i recall correctly, wal-mart wouldn't stock Nirvana's 'Nevermind' album because of its horrible, pedophilic imagery..... <_<

I organized my room the other day and realized that I don't have as many CDs as I thought I did. I have maybe 30 CDs and 50 burnt ones. The rest I ravage Limewire for. :)

Yeah, downloading mp3s is very communist when you think about it. All having an equal shot at the same thing...for free (in some cases...thanks itunes).
And why were you in Wal-Mart looking for music?!?!?

I've bought many records/tapes/cds, but NEVER at walmart. Is it really that bad where you live? Do no cool music stores exist in some places? If so try mail order, you can order direct from many cool labels/bands.

Excuse me, but I shopped at Wal-Mart regularly. Sorry for wanting good prices. I guess I must be too poor to shop like a true communist at cool trendy independant gourmet shops.
For music, though, music exchanges, where you can find used CDs, records, tapes, order whatever you want, etc are much better.
I'm such a frequent customer at my local record stores, that the guys there will burn me copies of what I want for free if I want, sell me CDs or records before they've been officially released and know their shit.

As far as what I've read they just censored the cock.
The art was a compromise anyway originally it was going to be an underwater birth but the record execs deemed that too graphic. So they just went for the baby idea and the dollar was added later as an afterthought. There's a good pic somewhere of the cover art as a giant mock-up and the band members had removed certain sticky-taped on letters of Nevermind so it read 'vermin.'
They had Rape me off In Utero changed to Waif Me and I think there was some other censorship as well but Kurt agreed so kids could still access the music where they only had a walmart for music.
