I have heard next to nothing about this. All i know is that 1 million people marched in Cuba and i have read FIdel's speech. But apart from that what else happened. Does anybody have links or pictures or anything?

Were you watching Nickelodeon or something?
Sky News and BBC News 24 were riddled with reports from protests all over the world. I heard reports from Britain, Moscow, Kiev, Rome, Madrid, Washington and Cuba to name a few. Not much big really though. Just your usual bunch of hippies and leftists trying to get their words heard in any way possible. Sort of suprising though. I was expecting, especially here in Britain, to see huge anti war protests (not that I agree with them), and student protests against the fee's. Also the trouble with the pensioners and firefighters. Oh well, it's sorta becoming just an "abide with the tradition" thing now. Is there any real meaning?
I only speak for Britain.

You should have watched SBS (in Australia). I watched the English and German version of Deutche Welle and the French news (Le Journal or something). However it seemed more like Labour Day than May Day.
What happened in China given the situation (I know the holiday was cancelled, but otherwise I know nothing)?

Nah i missed SBS. I don't really like SBS world news, it is too depressing, but then i don't like those stupid channel 7 and 9 stories about kittens being saved from the top of trees! The corporate media, excluding ABC and SBS, showed next to nothing on it.
