Offline advertising

Revolutionary Left is planning on designing some flyers to be printed off by anyone who wants to print them off, and distributed to higher its profile.

We haven't decided on a design yet, I have produced one I would like to submit as a possibility. If anyone has any alternative design, or would like to make any improvements to my suggestion or whatever, then do so here.

I think we should go in three steps. One, design them. Two, vote on how many designs we should have. Three, pick them.

All voting will be done in the CC.

Great flyer. I think another version could be made where purple is replaced with red and the stars are replaced with a fist or a machine gun.

Ok. As for the colour scheme...I like it. I think Red is boring and cliché. And the shade I used is actually within the red spectrum anyway.

My only concern was that it leans a little to far toward Anarchist art? and there are, after all, quite a few Leninists here. However, The red and black star, was a unification of Trotskyists and Anarchists in the Spanish civil war, so unless your a stalinist, or a supporter of north Korea or something there shouldn't be major concern. We do afetr all want to deter those types.

However, The red and black star, was a unification of Trotskyists and Anarchists in the Spanish civil war, so unless your a stalinist, or a supporter of north Korea or something there shouldn't be major concern. We do afetr all want to deter those types.

Oh please, as if everyone didn't know that the half-red/half-black star wasn't recognized as an anarchist symbol and only an anarchist symbol today. Red and black seperated diagonally only refer to one thing in the spanish civil war: the CNT-FAI, which was definately not trotskyist. Only a solid red star would be a trotskyist symbol (as its the red army symbol).

And in any case, revleft is not just for anarchists and trotskyists and most Marxists are neither trotskyists nor "stalinists" or "kimists" or whatever...moreover there is no official policy to discourage the later and there are plenty of maoists here.

This coming from someone who just declared his desire to deter people from leftist factions he doesn't like from posting on the board and making fliers that would seem to promote his own ideology to the exclusion of others on the left.


Anyways, i like drain.you's posters...except the last one because its a little confusing.

Just a suggestion, the best posters are simple ones that grab attention. Additives, whilst the bottom halfs of your designs are simple and good, the top halfs will not come out well in flyers, as photocopies or prints or whatever - ditto for drain.you's except for the second one on the plain white background.

Simple designs are much more effective, and come out a lot better when copied. Also AF, on your designs perhaps add the url somewhere? I know you've got Revolutionaryleft.com, but the .com part is overshadowed by the text above it and so it's not as easy as it could be to spot the the url of the site, maybe add it again clearly at the bottom?

Also, i dont see why RL needs 'official advertising' anyway, if people want to make flyers go ahead! No one has to have 'CC aproval' to advertise the board in the streets, the more flyers out there the better, all the designs people have done thus far in this thread are fine to post up, so yeah, 'just do it'! :P

That's fine bro, all im just saying flyers come off better when you photocopy them if the images arent really detailed/intricate, because you lose image quality. I suppose if you plan to print them all of a computer then it doesnt really matter as much, i just assumed you'd be printing one and then photocopying it.

I totally agree, and like you I get fucking pissed off when people come on here and go "well there's no point in me getting involved until something kicks off" or even more annoyingly "Guys we need to do more than talk" ...no mate, YOU need to do more than talk. :lol:

But there's no harm in putting up some flyers for RL, which if people visit, could get them in touch with activists locally.

I got the font and fist from Kevis. But I like it as a black and white quarter-sized page, color tends to fade and look unatractive. It's also like a viral poster...people see the url and are curious. I dunno. Use it if you like.

Image shack resizes everything and doesn't give you very much bandwidth. Aslo with xs.to I don't need a membership, I just upload and copy the URL, it's much more convenient this way.


The starnge the is that I can show images using <a href> tags with html. But this board doesn&#39;t allow html I don&#39;t think.

I think everyone should feel free to use any of these flyers. We shouldn&#39;t restrict the number and/or diversity of the flyers.

Just got a look at this thread today. Some excellent flyers in it. I&#39;m attaching my example (it may look physically big, not too sure..). I designed it so it would be photocopier friendly and cheap to print. All suggestions welcome&#33;
