I'm sure this has been asked many times, but i couldn't find it.
What will happen when Fidel Castro dies, who will take over, etc.
My teacher said that his daughter will take over, but i thought he only had one daughter and she doesn't even like him, and has written books about him.
This is completely off topic but does somedbody have a link to the thread about what people are for and against, I think it was started a few months ago?
Thanks

Yes, I'm pretty sure Raul is supposed to take over. However, he is only 5 years younger than his brother, so I don't think he'll last much longer after Fidel is gone.

Dont you guys think it is a bit feudalistic to give a place of power to his brother?
I used to be very pro-cuba but I think i was very misinformed.
and he also gave Che's son the job of minister of fishery.

A post-castro Cuba is a very interesting disussion. His brother, and current director of the military, Raul, is scheduled to take over. Some say that he is weaker, less charismatic than his older brother.
It's also been suggested that the US will intervene. I think this will happen.

well we can always hope that the cubans will get a parliament in which workers will take positions and can enhance democracy.
However, i wouldnt be suprised if cuba falls to the North American imperialists when castro dies.
Will be a shame.
Hopefully the workers can mobilise when castro dies, fight off the americans, and govern themselves. hopefully.

This is one reason we, as revolutionaries should be ready to take up arms, and fight them off. We could have a regular Spanish Civil War on our hands, International Brigades and all. With the help of Venezuela and the like, of course. There was an interesting discussion along these lines a few months ago. Click here. (http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showtopic=48849&hl=Cuba+future) A simialar thread, goes into detail a little more.

Maybe with Fidel gone, the people will gain more freedom while still maintaining a Socialist system. That would be really good for Cuba's international image + domestic satisfaction.
As for the civil war type scenario, I've never even thought of this before. I hope the US keeps its filthy hands out of Cuba though...maybe Venezuela and others can send some help. Though that depends on how long the Bolivarians stay in office...

I didnt know that.
The family of Fidel has been given a lot of important jobs. Like head of electricity, one of his sons is the head of the doctor team in national sports, etc. It looks like a dynasty.
