Nice! I'm a guitar player myself, but sadly I haven't had much time recently to practice. :( And £100 is actually a pretty good price- is it new or second hand? Because mine cost in excess of £300 (took a hell of a lot of saving!).

Glad to hear it, I hope you took the smart way and bought it second-hand. Brand new guitars are really just a rip off, you're paying more basically because it's shinier. Amps are a good idea to buy new, though, because heavily gigged amps tend to become unreliable and have issues later on.

Just got a guitar for my birthday too (folk acoustic). If you're just starting--you have a lot to learn, as do I! If you aren't--good luck on playing some red rock! :D

What about an electric cello? that would be sweet. I think someone like Moby uses/has used them.

You play the electric guitar with a cello bow. Jonsi from Sigur Ros does it, the sound is awesome.

 I been playin since I was 11 and I still suck!!! I got it 2nd hand with a free set of strings. It sounds lush but it's a bugger to tune!! Took me like 1/4 hr before it stopped slipping. I probably strung it wrong.
but NEW IBANEZ :D ^_^ ;)  :)
I know it's cheesy to name a guitar, but it's called Fakima (fascist killing machine)

Depends on the guitar really, the biggest rip-offs are actually so-called "vintage" guitars (not the brand). I have played 60's guitars, and for the price of them I would much rather get a newer guitar...

I would go for a guitar on its own merits, but I wouldn't say no to second hand.

Not a bad piece of advice on amps, valve amps often need work doing to them, and heavily gigged solid-state amps often go haywire. I bought mine ex-demo and save about 40% for what was basically a new amp :)

I love Sigur Ros, they are great.

I also play guitar. im ok, but i never seem to learn anything new.
