Menem got a 24% of the votes, and Kirchner about a 22%, so what is going to happen on may 28, are the Argentinians elect Carlos Saul Menem ?? Dont they remener the arms fraud, the association with arabs, the corruption ??

This further proves that politics are just phony, just a show like a circus, as if the Chileans would elect Pinochet as president, silly ??

So what is going to happen if he arrives at the "Casa Rosada", and most important, WHY would he get there, if democratically why would they elect this fake person ??

I just heard on my local news an Argentinian saying that all the people who wanted to vote for Menem already did it and the rest only want to see him dead so my best guess he is going to get about a 30 or 40 percent.

Argentina has so many natural resources to benefit from, a good economy, great people, wouldnt the FMI or the BM have anything to do here, or the political class. With a country exporting tons of wheat to the US, wouldnt the children from Tucuman benefit from it a lot more ??

Is this fair ??

This is an account of the "disarray in the Argentine left" which I don't necessarily agree with entirely...but which strikes me as an extremely cogent account of what's happening there.

I don't think the "vanguardists" will find much comfort here; rabid sectarianism, corrupt bureaucracy, and gross incompetence are hardly calculated to win the support of the Argentine working class...they can have that just by doing nothing and keeping capitalism. (!)

Menem represents the dark right-wingers, imperialist-servant of capitalism. We all hate them, I just hope that people get to think a bit before May 18. I'm very much concerned with the forthcoming results. If Menem wins I will have to accelerate the project.
