Perhaps she was thinking "unholy" thoughts?

She wasn't hurt, so maybe the prayers saved her. Ever think of that??

I think that most people hit by lightning aren't hurt seriously. Maybe God was saying go away and leave me alone. Next time he will really hurt her.

Maybe Zeus is on his way back to kick our asses.

Think about New Orleans, obviously Poseidon at work. Now the Greek gods are on there way to America to enforce the law :P

This is a common attitude I've seen."I was hit/fucked over/owned/my house was destroyed by a hurricane/ect. by the will of god, AND I SURVIVED! I must be blessed!"

Ok, and if we are to assume this is the case then god is an asshole. What kind of a sick fuck would scare someone like that?

Not only that, but he totally demolished her house, what a nice guy :P

Ummm, guys, God didn't send the lightning bolt after this woman.

Get a grip.

For Christ's sake, you Christians MUST learn at last to be CONSISTENT with your own religion. Your views are not just wrong from an atheist or a scientific point of view. They are even wrong from a THEOLOGICAL point of view. Even a priest would tell you that God sent this lightning bolt. Religion itself says that God is all-powerfull and all-knowing; the master of the universe. If something in the universe ( a lightning, a thunder, an earthquake etc) happens AGAINST God's wil, this means that God is not powerful; not the master of universe; this means that he is NOT A GOD

This story reminds me of another where people Actually died after being struck by lightening while praying to "god".

The other story: http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,...1922119,00.html (http://www.news24.com/News24/World/News/0,,2-10-1462_1922119,00.html)

Of course, they died instantly so it will be assumed they did not suffer, which is, I suppose if you're a religious nutjob, a blessing from "god". <_<
One must also assume that "god" has a morally justifiable reason for killing five children.

Here's a nutjob fundamentalist christian outlook on the woman's experience: http://www.rr-bb.com/showthread.php?t=259617
Apparently being struck by lightening can now be considered an answer to your prayers!

I don't know any Christians who think God sends lighting bolts. They might say that God knew the lightning bolt would hit this woman, but that's not the same thing. She had the free will to move from where she was standing. Just because God knows what will happen doesn't mean he makes it happen.

But apparently god created everything and put everything into motion, so therefore any thing that happens is directly due to god, every single death would be on god's hands if god existed.

AnnieAngel: Do you believe that your god is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent and benevolent?

So which saved her? The prayers, or the "free will"?

If "God" knew it was going to happen when he made the universe, then he must have known the way he created the universe would cause this woman to get struck by lightning.

God doesn't do things to either harm or help us. We are on our own, which is why Christians are called to spread the Good News. However after we die, we will be judged, so this woman would have gone to Heaven if she had died, and according to my beliefs, she would have gone to Hell if she died a non-Christian.

This life is fleeting, the next life is forever.

AnnieAngel, please don't ignore my question.
Do you believe that your god is omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent and benevolent?
Or are you ignoring it because you know I'm going to point out the massive logical problem with believing in such a god?

Maybe "God" was pissed because instead of actually doing something useful to protect her family, she was sitting there fucking talking to someone she has no proof even exists.
