You mean by stephen speilberg? staring tom cruise?

hehe yea, it's not too bad. But I wouldn't say it's anything special. Story-wise I think HG wells must have run out of ideas, maybe he made the alien invaders a bit too good or something, but to be wiped out by the common cold...is just silly.

Yeah, the ending was a bit crap. But getting there was highly entertaining.

It was a great movie and an even better book. I thought the ending, although low key, was pretty good.
I mean think about it: All of humanities resources and technology could not push back the aliens. But nature could.

The end was a bit weird. When the film ended I sorta went "what?"

I suppose it wasn't the worst film in the world but I was very happy to get out of the cinema.

I really hated the end.

Not bad, not as good as the book though.

That movie was terrible. The only good part of the movie was when the kid asked if the spider machines were the terrorists.

You mean the remake of the 1960's movie, based on a book, that Spielberg remade, yeah I saw it, it sucked ass, largely because Tom Cruise was in it.

Bad ending, especially because it had this "God" person mentioned in it. Completely random! It would have been nice if the humans had waged germ warfare. ("I love my bacteria!")

Well i quite liked the idea of the ending. Sure i'm no Tom Cruise fan, but i thought the ending was pretty good. I would have liked more explosions and everyone coming together to kick alien butt, though the idea that we are nothing compared to nature was a little idea i liked playing about in my head.

The ending is - by far - the best thing about the book/movie. It's what makes it stand out from the other alien litterature. Science fiction with a morale is just the cream of the cream.

IIRC there's no mention of God in the book. Merely the miracle of science :)

Agreed, Tom Cruise doesn't fit the role of the "average joe."

However he does fit the role of the crypto-fascist sexist homophobe fundamentalist christian with an annoying monotone and all the acting skill of a primary school reception year nativity play!
I FUCKING HATE TOM CRUISE!!!!!
He'll be in the 2 minutes hate!
