Recently I've become confused about the meaning of beorgious. I'm not sure if it means middle class small business owners/ white collar and college grads. Or does it mean the rich who have butlers and fancy cars because I think we should be targeting the rich

The latter is closer to the truth, LeftyHenry. However, the bourgeoisie's defining characteristic is the ownership of capital in significant amounts (as opposed to the petty bourgeoisie (who are pretty much non-existant now) who own small amounts). Bourgeoisie class = Capitalist class.

The bourgeoisie maintains a qualitative relation to the means of production, not the superstructure. This relation is that the bourgeoisie owns the means of production and employs those that do not own the means of production, wage-laborers, in order to make profit.

Part of the problem is that there is a tendency amongst the Left to label anyone that opposes their viewpoint or agenda "bourgeois".

As for LeftyHenry's question, MIA gives a reasonably short and concise defintion....
