Im just curious what mode of production stone henge was constructed under.
What was the structure of society at the time?
Were there classes?
It would seem to be quite an achievement if it had been built under some type of communism - there must have been some collective will!!
I don't know, but:
It was probably built for lame religious purposes.
I bet there were some sort of religious leaders.

Druids, right?
If the stonehenge was built by the celts, propably. Those were, according to Roman historians, a warlike and nomadic people that even did some raids to the south against the mediterranian civilizations during that period, before mostly conquered by the Romans under Caesar and Claudius, and soon 'civilized' by the Empire, except some of the tribes on Britain and Ireland. They had a 'primitive' form of religion (a pretty bloody and fearsome one too, if the historians are to trust on this).
I did some online research on the Stonehedge, though, and it seems many sources claim no-one is actually sure who really built it, it appears to be even older than the Celts of that region. It is described as a 'mystery'. :o
This is an interesting topic. Let's hope some member of this site has more knowledge of this monument than me.
