Chavez isn't a revolutionary leftist anyway, although he is certainly a good leader for Venezuela at this point in time. I would consider him a moderate progressive. It's like the Hitler/Stalin thing - if you could sit them down and they avoided talking economics, they would find a lot of common ground. As long as Chavez didn't talk religion, maybe he would not be restricted.

He would probably get restricted for pissing off some high ranking member here, they'll call him mean names and lock him up in this place with the cappies.

How is it stupid?
I'm no stalinist, but you completely disregard the conflicting views on race, internationalism, and basic social policy for the sake of a rhetorical pile of crap. Time to drop the ahistoricity and maybe start drinking carbonated beverages.

Yes.
Seriosuly though, you're right. I do see similarities, but I probably got those from the Western media, who like to demonise Communism and make it look as bad as Nazism.
Probably not. Only preachers are restricted, and I don't think he'd do that.

If we restricted people for having religious beliefs we'd be as bad as them

I know the anarchists on this board would have a hard time with him. Chavez hasn't exactly been nice to the anarchists of Venezuela. See http://www.nodo50.org/ellibertario/seccioningles.htm for more info.
Yeah, and his religious stuff would get him banned.
And he is a social democrat, not a revolutionary leftist.

God is such an incredibly concept. It is also merely a word.
Many people here might find the use of Nature the same as God.
In his early writings, as President of the Constitutional Convention of 1787, Washington made continuous reference to "Providence". He wrote of it in such ways that it could have been considered it to be God.
Is one stuck in the O.I. region because they "believe in God"?

Then most of the people of "communist" Cuba would be in OI as well...
People are not restricted if they believe in God.
However if anyone is calling someone a "Heathen" and saying that they "Need to be saved" and that we are all "Sinners, and we all need to repent."
Well... thats a different story ;P.

The press scribble scribble every half-truth spoke
Then shoot it round the country like an April Fools joke
Hype the nation for a Desert Storm love affair
Wave the stars and stripes like you just don't care
The last sentence uses a proper noun, so it should be:
Wave the Stars and Stripes like you just don't care
More Fire for the People

Chavez would likely be restricted due to his deals with multi-national corporations.

It's funny how there aren't any real communists. REAL communists are just perfect in every way after all, like the messiah. One needs to be a Sir Persival to truly represent communism. Is there anyone on earth up to the task or do we need to pull angels out of heaven since you guys are really not talking about a political system but a utopia?
After all, there were no REAL communist regimes. They were all frauds. Lenin, Trotsky, the lot. Hell, even Marx was not a real communist. Even you guys are not real communists. Do you know why? Because any communist regime is NOT communist!
DO you understand? Do you understand what you are not? You are all members of the ANIMAL kingdom and you think all of the sudden humans will start to defy the laws of evolution and start providing infitnite highest quality goods for each other according to their need. Well, don't let me hold you back.
Come on Redstar2000, you said NO compromise with capitalism. Well, I want some of the highest quality goods you've been talking about. Give them to me out of the Redstar factory! I'm sure there are quite a few needy here! What's that? I'm talking rubbish! Hardly, this is YOUR system mate. Where is it? Will it ever exist?
To conclude, It's funny how there aren't any real communists, even with the imminent demise of capitalism and everything. Awww, they're just shy, yeah that's it.

Would Chavez be restricted in this forum?
Not yet.
I offered a proposal to restrict reformists to Opposing Ideologies but it was defeated by the CC. :(
Maybe next year, hey?
He would have a very "hard time" being voted into the CC...and probably wouldn't make it.
Religious believers are not "automatically" restricted to Opposing Ideologies...but there is substantial bias against superstition on this board. So it doesn't "take much" for them to get restricted. We're "hard" on them because most of us really despise religion and everything it stands for.

It's not "all of a sudden" at all. It's a historical process that's been underway for at least 10-15,000 years.
Otherwise, we'd still be killing and eating each other.
The "laws of evolution"? Once accurately understood, it turns out that what people in the 19th century called "laws of nature" may be amended to suit our own human purposes.
So when cappies invoke "evolutionary law" now, the motive of self-justification is naked.
It looked a lot better when they used to cloak it in "the rights of man".

I'm just saying that no-communist on earth is good enough for you people. You want something that does not exist. Actually Ho Chi Minh might be closest to an ideal communist - but no, for he was a nationalist.
I've noticed that you guys, (in general), most love the communists who never had a chance to be dicators, namely Che and Trotsky. Che killed like a hundred people - AS A CIVILLIAN!!!!! Imagine if he was a dictator. I think you'll agree the richest 5% of the country would be shot without hesitation. As for Trotsky, he had quite a viscious mind - hardly a left libertarian. So those two are crossed out, and who is left? You guys? How many of you guys live communally? Are you guys good communists, or do you selfishly own rooms you do not use and could be used to house poor families with their 25 kids running around and screaming in your ears?
There is nothing wrong with being a perfectionist, but I think you guys are just too perfect for this world. When capitalism conquers Mars I suggest you move there to achieve the celestial paradise your religion demands.

I wish it was a historical process. Right, I'm going to start a thread on this, if that's ok.
