Can somebody tell me where to start with anarchist philosophy? I need to get a grip on all left-wing theories, and I thought I should get into Anarchism because of my rejection of rules as a total, especially moral rules.

Check out the Wikipedia articles for some basic ideas <en.wikipedia.org/wiki/anarchism> also the Making Sense of Anarchism thread by Blackberry <http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showtopic=6421> and what makes an anarchist.... <http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showtopic=28053>
Basically anarchism about abolish hierarchy and having free societies of people.
Also see <http://www.revolutionaryleft.com/index.php?showtopic=46102> and search for anarchism in all the forums. There are lots and lots of threads on anarchism and virutually everything else.

The Anarchists on this forum have just about convinced me to switch from a lennie to Anarcho-sydicalist, however I still don't have that genuine hate for Lenin like the harcore anarchists here do. I blame Stalin more.
The way I see Anarchism is that it can be anything that doesn't have a opressive federal government. It's the idea that people will own the means of production and work out problems as a community in assemblies and etc... Also no one has the right to impose anything on you although there will be informal pressure to work at learn.
Wikipedia has a really good series on it that makes everything crystal clear.

Yeah, all the resources posted above are good (wikipedia especially)
Here's another good resource for anarcho syndicalist information
http://www.iwa-ait.org/
And for Green Anarchism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_anarchism
One more link, another anarchist FAQ
http://www.gmu.edu/departments/economics/bcaplan/anarfaq.htm
Enjoy
It is (for all intents and purposes) the same philosophy as Communism, however we all have radically different stratagies about getting there.

The impression I get from other posters is that Green Anarchists are complete wankers!!!! Though I know a green anarchist and he's really clever.

Once you've got your head around the basics, try What is Property? by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon. It's online here:

THe Infoshop.org FAQ is the best introduction. I wouldn't trust Bryan Caplan's FAQ, he has a tendency to distort prominent anarchists' texts into showing that they were capitalists and that capitalism is compatible with anarchism.

Seemed to be the opposite for me. Well, TragicClown, Comrade Marcel, and well...my Right Wing town, helped me change to true Marxism, not anarchism. The fact that some people just...DONT CHANGE was the real wake up call.

What does that have to do with anarchism. I never remebered part of the movement being convincing every reactionary to the cause.

Then read about what is probably the most recent strain of Anarchism: Anarchist Technocracy! If you suscribed to that you would be, what, the second Anarchist Technocrat as far as I know? I am lonely... :(
The infoshop FAQ, after reading all the stuff on wikipedia, should be sufficient to give you an idea. I have read little about Anarchism apart from them (one Bakunin article, 3 chapters of the Conquest of Bread, which I will finish... tomorrow ;) and partway through Alexander Berkman's ABC of Anarchism, as a light read). You really do not need much else before you start theorising yourself (as long as you have other sources unrelated to Anarchism, I guess).
Also, if you have not done so already, a little reading up on the history of the movement (nothing much more than the bare bones really, Ukraine, Spain, Haymarket etc.) might be a little instructive.

I strongly recommend the Anarchist FAQ (http://www.anarchyfaq.org) cited above. It's a little long, though, and if you want somthing shorter you might try Basic Principles of Anarchism (http://question-everything.mahost.org/Socio-Politics/BasicAnarchy.html)
