What should do with this?

I have an old NEC Versa 2530 laptop and im wondering if there is anything I can do with it.

It has:
No USB
No CD Rom
No Networking options
A Dead Battery

So this leads me to think that the only good thing would be to use the parts for something.

Ideas:
Portable Mp3 Player (Somehow)
LCD Monitor


I have no idea what to do with it and I dont really want to throw it away (Or give it away since it would end up in the trash anyway) .

So anyone have any ideas on a use for this bitterly aged machine? (And perhaps a step in how to do it) :ph34r:

The thing sounds pretty worthless if you ask me.

Give it to goodwill and write it off for a lot more than it is actually worth. Write it off for the money you originally paid for it.

If you are good at electronics and don't mind tinkering you could make an electronic picture frame. Or you could give it to someone else who plays with computers and electronics and get them to do same. If it is not moving you would not have to worry about the battery (just use power cord).

you could use it as a word processor. does it have a floppy disk drive?

Besisdes that I don't know much else. You could donate it, or your last option would be to recycle it. electronics have a lot of toxic materials inside of them so it is best to properly recycle them rather than sending them to the landfill.

They go to companies that specify in salvaging electronics.

You could do one of those "Blow up mt G4" type things. As in you make yourself a website and get people to donate so you can buy a new laptop, and when you have got enough to get the new laptop you utterly destroy the old one and post the vid online.

Or just do it by yourself, and don't exploit gullable teenagers...like me! haha

No really, just when ever you get mad, get a bat and let it all out on this laptop. Seems like a good plan to me.

You write it off for tax purposes. You don't get money, but you pay less when tax time comes around.

I saw them do that with an XBOX 360. They raised money and stood in line outside a store to get one of the first units. Then they smashed to thing to pieces. It was great.
