God is dead by "RAHOWA".

Quite a heavy metal-type song.

WARNING: this is a "white power" band and some songs are highly racist. The band has now split up and the leader singer left the WP scene to start another band.

I reccomend Anti-Flag, NOFX, and Propaghandi. I don't know if they have a specific song about atheism although they do sing in the theme of it.

Nine Inch Nails

"Heresy"

he sewed his eyes shut because he is afraid to see
he tries to tell me what I put inside of me
he's got the answers to ease my curiosity
he dreamed up a god and called it Christianity
your god is dead and no one cares
if there is a hell I will see you there
he flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in line
he made a virus that would kill off all the swine
his perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and pain
demands devotion atrocities done in his name
your god is dead and no one cares
drowning in his own hypocrisy
and if there is a hell I will see you there
burning with your god in humility
will you die for this?

Dead Prez ("Propaganda"), The Coup ("Heven Tonite"), Mobb Deep and 50 Cent ("Pearly Gates") come to mind as hip-hop artists who have clearly articulated athiest values. No matter what your views on 50 and the Mobb, you have to respect someone who'll say:

If I go to hell and you make it to the pearly gates, tell the boss man we got beef, and tell his only son I'ma see him when I see him, and when I see him, I'ma beat him like a movie, for leaving us in straight poverty

There are other rappers with confusing or contradictory views on religion; for example, Nas weaves Five Percenter ideology throughout Illmatic yet he also drops rhymes like "About Gods, I don't believe in none of that shit - your facts are backward."

The wide influence of the ultra-individualistic Nation of Gods and Earths in hip-hop, especially on the East Coast, can make an artists like Gang Starr, Nas, and RZA appear to be spitting atheist lyrics when they are simply rejecting the "white man's religion." It still makes for interesting commentary, though.

Seconded. Also, "Haille Sellasse, Up Your Ass" by Propagandhi (aimed at those annoying Rastafarians primarily)

Out of possibly thousands of atheist bands you had to name a nazi band, fuck man, put some effort in.

Theres a Modest Mouse song that appears atheistic to me, called Bukowski... heres a few lyrics:

If God takes life, he's an Indian giver.
So tell me now why, you'll tell me never.
Who would wanna be?
Who would wanna be such a control freak?
Well who would wanna be?
Who would wanna be such a control freak?

If God controls the land and disease,
keeps a watchful eye on me,
If he's really so damn mighty,
my problem is I can't see,
well who would wanna be?
Who would wanna be such a control freak?

There are loads of decent atheist bands, but some good atheist songs are:

'Ayslum' by Crass (on 'the feeding of the 5000' and 'Best before... 1984')

'Get off my Cloud'/'look no strings' by Chumbawamba (on 'Jesus H Christ' and its censored version 'Shhh'

'Religous Cancer' by Nail Bomb (on 'Point Blank')

'The Kill' by Napalm Death (on Scum)

'No' by the Subhumans (on 'The day the country died')

'Asylum' by Crass (or reality Asylum as the later version was known) is enough to upset any God botherer. Its lyrics got Crass arrested.THey are:

'Iam no feeble Christ, not me
He hangs in glib delight upon his cross
Above my body, lowly me
Christ forgive, forgive?
Holy He,He holy, He Holy?
Shit He forgives, Forgive? Forgive?
I? I? Me? I? I vomit upon your papal throne
Wrapped you are in the bloody shroud
Of churlish suicide
Wrapped I am in the muddy cloud
Of hellish genocide
Petulant child
I have suffered for you
WHere you have never known me
I too must die
Will you be shadowed in the arrogance
Of my death? Your valley truth
what lights passthose pious heights?
What passing bells in their trucks?
For you Lord.
You are the flag bearer of those nations
One against the other that die in the mud
No piety. No deity
Is that your forgiveness?
Saint. Martyr. Goat. Billy. Forgive?
Shit he forgives
He hangs upon his cross
Inself righteous judgment
Hangs in crucifed delight
Nailed to the extent of his vision
His cross. His manhood. His violence. Guilt Sin
He would nail my body to his cross
As if I might have waited upon him in the garden
As if I might have perfumed His body
Washed those bloody feet
This woman that He seeks
Suicide visionary. Death Reveller. Rake. Rapist.
Gravedigger. Earthmover. Lifefucker. Jesu
You scooped the pits at Auscwitz
The soil of treblinka is rich in your guilt
The sorrow of your tradition
Your stupid humility is the crown of thorns
We all must wear. For you. Ha. Master
Master of gore. Enigma. Stigma. Stigmata. Errata. Eraser
The cross is the mast of your oppression
You fly there, vain flag. You carry it
Wear it on your back Lord. Your back
Enola is your gaiety
Suffer little children to come unto me
Suffer in that horror. Hirohorror. Hirrohiro
Hiroshimmer. Shimmerhiro. Hiroshima. Hiroshima
The bodies are your delight
The incandescent flame is the spirit of it
They come toyou Jesu. To you
The nals are the only trinity
Hold them in your corpseless gracelessness
The image that I have had to suffer
These nails at my temple
The cross is the virgin body of womanhood
That you defile
In your guilt you turn your back
Nailed to that body
Lame arsed Jesus calls me sister
There are no words for my contempt
Every woman is a cross in his filthy theology
He turns his back on me in his fear
His vein delights is the pain I bear
Alone he hangs. His Choice. His choice
Alone. Alone. His voice, His voice
He shares nothing, this Christ
Sterile. Impotent. Fucklove prophet of death
He isthe ultimate pornography
He. He. Hear us Jesus
You sigh alone in your cockfear
You lie alone in your womanfear
You die alone in your manfear
Alone Jesu, alone
In your cockfear. ****fear. Womanfear. Manfear
Alone in your fear. Alone in your fear
Your fear. Your fear. Warfare. Warfare
JESUS DIED FOR HIS OWN SINS. NOT MINE

I once put together a cd of anti-religious music for a friend who was taking some kind of class where they were discussing religion in music. Now I wouldn't call most of it athiest as much as anti-religious. I'll have to see if I still have a copy. I can't remember what I put on it. I know there was "Stand up for Judas" and "No Gods and Precious Few Heroes" both done by Dick Gaughan. I'll see what I can find.
