I don't know much about Che Guevara, although i think he's pretty cool. i really enjoyed 'The Motorcycle diaries' but i question it's authenticity and it's accuracy. Is it a romanticized version of Che's roadtrip through south America? thanx

Why would anyone exagerate their memiors? It was his diary, ya know?

He may have been talking about the movie which was based off of Che's actual diary.

It is really hard to tell really. One can only be so accurate citing off a book and an old man who should be dying anyday now.

Bookwise though, it seems pretty accurate. Some parts were exaggerated though such as when they fled from the Chilean guy with the broken bottle.

cool, i was concerned when i first watched TMD that i was getting an altered or inaccurate image of Che. Feedback is helpful :)

It was a fairly accurate depiction if a bit abridged. The movie was a sort of blend between Che's Motorcycle Diaries and Alberto Granado's book "Traveling with Che Guevara"

From what I have read it seems the film was reasonably accurate but you have to remember most movies use some 'poetic license'. Robert Redford arranged a screening of it in Cuba for Aleida March and Che's family and it was given the seal of approval.

It is probably more relevant to comment that this was more about the young Che than the man he became. It has been credited with showing one of the formative influences on Che and his later political beliefs, i.e. his travels around Latin America but I think it wasn't quite that simple. I would argue that other influences combined with his travels paved the way for Che becoming the revolutionary he did including his bohemian upbringing and liberal education.

The part where they flee the chilean guy, could of been a scene to describe them running from things, and to sugar coat what actualyl happened. haha

What actually happened was che and alberto were bunking a guys barn, and they kept hearing noises, so they thought it was a mountain lion or something, and che went out and shot it. In the morning they found out it was the farmers dog, so they fled. ha

I read "The motocycle diary" by Che and I love it very much. However, I have never watched the movie. I am wondering if I could watch it on a website? Please tell me if you know. Thanks!

Well, good thing that they didn't show that or the anti-Che people would've definitely used that to their advantage.

The last time I saw the movie was a few weeks ago, but I have the song that woman was singing in the bar in Chile stuck in my head.

Chipi Chipi! Hey! Chipi Chipi! Hey!...

I have heard that Che did not really remove his gloves when working with the Leper colony.
And I question the accuracy of Che throwing the rock and yelling obscenities at the truck of the employer who was picking which workers he wanted and then Ernesto asking the peasant telling him of the land that was stolen from them "Did you organize?". Correct me if I am wrong but Wasn't this before Che even got into politics?

Yeah. you have a point there, :) but he exergerated his drugs experiences to make a buck, a druggie capitalist. Go figure, i dont think Che fits that image.

There are so many dairies, autobiographies, ect that make up stuff. I mean, after all it's written by the person himself. Many people's point of view isn't a neutral one, infact...I can't think of anyone's that is.
