Greetings Commerades, this is my first time posting here, and i must say im happy to find a forum where people like me can co-mingle. now, me being a Communist aswell, i found out somthing interesting.

Communism osent work on larger scales, such as the Soviets back in the 30's

but, Communism does work on smaller scales.

i was recently doing some work with the huterite colony outside my city, and i realized that they run on a Communist based society.

-they have one person known as the "boss" who looks over everything including finances, food, clothing, supplys, ect.

and he distributes all the goodness to everyone in equal amounts. and viola :P , Communism at its finest.

questions comments?

Well you could view it that way, but I was merely giving you a recommendation, le me explain.

Communism can only work in large scales, communism is a stateless, classless society, and to be stateless you need to make sure you have no outside pressure so basically you need the whole world.

such as the Soviets back in the 30's

The Soviet Union was not communist, it was a state and it had a class system.

There is no "boss" in communism, if there is a "boss" there is class.

Welcome!

They did not claim they have communism, they claimed they are socialist (wether they were socialist or state capitalist is a completely another discussion, see other threads in theory and history forums).

i was recently doing some work with the huterite colony outside my city, and i realized that they run on a Communist based society.

I dont know what is the huterite colony and I don't know where you live, but those people possibly (according to your description) live in a socio-economic system usually reffered to as primitive communism. Such system is today considered nearly completely extinct, except in the very isolated parts of the world and it is characteristic for societies that have not developed agriculture and or domesticated animals (which are consiered the steps that led towards the developement of private property and, therefore, class society).

Does the existance of those societies means that communism "can work" depends on what do you mean by "works". It certainly successfully refutes that it is in "human nature" to have hierarchy and that "people cannot without private property" and it proves that "from each according to abilities to each according to needs" can work in practice, but it is also undeniable that those societies are very unproductive and that they live in complete poverty.

There is no "boss" in communism, if there is a "boss" there is class.

Depends on what "boss" in their society exactly is. The word "boss" itself doesn't sound very communistic and implies the existance of the class system, but from Czar's (obviously, username "czar" also does not sound very communist, but he says he is a communist) it seems that he is not the person "above" others in their little society, but he has a useful role like everybody else (just a different one). He does not take their surplus (if they live in a primitive society they do not produce surplus) and he is unable to give them commands to which a majority of them would be opposed to. He simply " looks over everything including finances, food, clothing, supplys, ect."

Just to point out, this is different from leadership, which would be in communist society, but one could only lead as long as he has the voluntary support of the people he is leading; take for example an architect designing a building, if people think its ugly as crap, they're not going to build it.

So, there are leaders, but not rulers who use laws and force to make people complacent. (which is anti-thetical to communism!)

Since force can only exist when you have property relations (the haves and have nots), its rather difficult to "force" anyone in communism into a subservient posistion since there is no such thing as the division of labor or private property.

Equality does NOT equal the same!

Its each according to his own needs, each according to his own abilities!

Your scheme is nothing more than a other form of class society! I do not directly control the production of my own labor in such a system; which is essential to communism!

Thats not free labor!
