I am looking for statistics on inequality (in different countries).

It is often claimed that means of production in capitalism are owned and controled by a small minority, but I am looking for statistics.
How many people, or what % of people owns and controls means of production (how many people own companies trough shares)?

What % of people owns what % of wealth?
I am also looking for trends. How quickly is inequlity increasing?

I'm sorry nobody has posted but these figures, I presume, would be tough to get. Here is a link which discusses UK figures, but the group involved is a pro-government quango, so I'm unsure whether it should be trusted. The 7/84 theatre group was set up in Scotland in the 70's to promote socialist ideas. The 7/84 is a reference to the fact that ,at that time, 7% of Scotlands population owned 84% of its wealth. I doubt things today are much better, hence my coutiousness at the link.

Thanks for the link, I hope someone will post more soon.

Figures like "x% of population owns y% of wealth" are welcome, but I am more interestsed in figures show how small is the minority that owns the means of production.

I would expect that inequality increased since 1970s, because the inequality generally increased since 1970s in mosst world's countries.

Are those wealty 7% in Scotland mostly from old arisocratic families or are they families that got wealty as capitalists (or aritocrats that got even wealtier as capitalists)?

I can't remember ever seeing figures which relate to disparities in the ownership of production. I'm sure they must have a direct corrilation with wealth figures. If I find anything, I'll post it.
