View Full Version : Favourite Song?

My favourite song is, and has been for a good while: 'Riders on the Storm' by the Doors. I love the epic feeling it has: the falling rain, the thunder, the mystical lyrics and the super-cool piano and guitar riffs. It has an emotional significance to me too, in that it recalls happy memories.

What are your current or all-time favourite songs and why?

All the songs mentioned in this thread so far kick ass. I don't know what my favourite song is, I wouldn't know where to begin. It's hard enough picking my favourite albums. I'll throw out How Soon Is Now? by the Smiths just because.

My all time favorite has to be Creeping Death by Metallica - it is pretty much the perfect metal song, IMO.
My current favorite is probably Mandatory Suicide by Slayer, especially the live versions where Tom shouts the lst part that is normally spoken.
Guess what genre of music I like... ;)

I don't feal that I can have a favorate song anymore, I like to many and different moods dictate different music. Not only that but when i get new music that effects the way I look at music, if only temporarily. But what I can do is post my top played songs according to winamp, though this has altered recently because I formatted my hard drive and the list has restarted: -

Manic Street Preachers - Motorcycle emptyness
'' '' '' - Die in the Summertime
Tool - Sober
Placebo - Follow the cops back home
My Vitriol - Always: Your Way

These are the top five most played at the moment, no doubt that will shift dramatically in the next few weeks.

My favorate song is probably...

Shit... thats a hard one. It depends on my mood. Most of the time I prefer Authority Zero - Over Seasons, or other Ska/Reggae. Though when I'm pissed its usually RATM - Gorilla Radio/Wake Up (really any RATM song) or maybe crank some old ACDC.

Then again theres always the classical rock, turn on some Floyd, or Zepp. It's all good. Sit down, turn on, rock out, light up.

No Borders, No Nations - Anti-Flag

USA-Holes - NOFX

Both have powerful meanings. Especially USA-holes which talks about how even though the US is so strong look at what happened to the Titanic despite the fact that it was so strong.

No message? No point?
What about all the Satanism, necrophilia, Cthulhu, ritual sacrifice, war, genocide, church burnings, and killing sprees? Isn't all that a good message?
Incidently, your statement itself is pure garbage as metal is not really anything like punk, and music is not about having a message - it is about having a damn good time enjoying yourself, which (for me) metal is perfect for.

it doesnt matter if someone doesnt like Elvis Costello. Just because someone doesn't like Elvis Costello does not mean they should stop listening to rock music at all. That's ridiculous.

I don't really like Elvis Costello either. But who are you to tell someone what to listen to or not?

everyone can have their own opinions on everything.

Jesus, stop taking everything so seriously.

No! You may not have opinions that differ from my own. That cannot happen. Grrrr. *Stalinnnnnn*

As far as i'm concerned Elvis Costello is everything that rock is supposed to be. You are welcome to dissagree with me.

To the guy who wrote that about RaTM - no matter what contract thay had, they have inspired so many young (and other) people to, incidentally, wake up and criticize society, that it's entirely worth it. And they never, ever, ever lost commitment.
