Craft Unionism, where seperate bodies of workers organise into seperate unions to represent their trades interests is the main form of Unionization in the West and, as has been pointed out since the days of DeLeon and the IWW, is extremely divisive for the working-class - strikes are easily isolated and broken - and they are almost always led by pro-corporate 'professional' Trade Unionists

How do we break the strangle-hold of these reactionary Unions - Is it possible to attempt the 'One Big Union' today, or must we work within these Unions to unite and educate?

Even, is it possible to do both?

Unions have been completely subsumed by the social-factory. Workers need to begin to organize autonomously. They can organize go-slows, strikes, and destruction of property without the union bosses who profit from their positions. One proven effective way of doing this is the formation of ultra-democratic councils, general assemblies, and other decision-making committees based on the total participation of workers for smaller bodies, and frequent rotation of elected representatives for larger bodies. It's only when we organize autonomously from our officially accepted representatives, for ourselves and by ourselves, that we will be able to build revolution and the "post-revolution" organizational methods.
