View Full Version : Am I overly paranoid?

I seriously think that my government should spy on American and Chinese immigrants so as to ensure that they're not here to help their respective governments undermine Canadian sovereignty.

Are you joking or serious? I can't really tell. Why would Chinese or even American immigrants want to "undermine Canadian sovereignty"?

Because government and business interests in those countries see a country of people too weak and stupid to defend their natural resources, their political sovereignty, and their best interests.

You should be paranoid if you live under the rule of the US or China, not the other way around.

Okay man, put the bong back on the table and step away.

No-one is going to invade canada any time soon.

People come to canada because its a better place to live. nothing more, nothing less.

You aren't paranoid enough! But what you are paranoid about is bullshit!

You should get paranoid about the powers that be in any situation. Power's only motivation in consolidating its own power... so get informed, get active, and then you stop worrying so much, and it more turns into blind rage.

Is this some type of strange joke?

What about Canadian citizens in the US or any other type of immigrant in Canda?

So would you support internment and something like the Chinese Exclusion Acts as well?

the netherlands i heared have a serious espionage problem with foreign powers looking for technology here.

pakistan china india north korea iran all are supposidly here perhaps we should give them discounts on buss passes

if its in the media its a lie if its not its a cover-up live by this rule Cheung Mo (im only kidding ofcourse)

i cant even think of a reason why the USA would want to spy on canada i bet bush considers canada as an unofficial state.
china on the other hand does have reasons to spy but they would not send agents over if its easier to bribe someone to do it for them instead.

(note to self get kazzaa light and look for top secret files all sorts of computer analfabetics share their entire pc and yes the military and royal family documents have been found through kazzaa)

Don't worry, you're not paranoid, just an idiot.

Being an immigrant doesn't make a person a spy.

Though i dont support "my govt" spying on immigrants you are not paranoid.

The US has a long history of spying on Canada. There were estimated to be more US spies than russians here during the cold war.

Industrial(technology) espinonage by the US is most certainly happening.

In the 1960-70's the US developed a system of economic de stabilization for quebec identical to the one they ended up using in Chile.

The idea was if Quebec seperated and went socialist, not too much of a long shot at the time, then the US govt would have to fuck that shit up.

There were also some ties at the time between the Black Panthers and the seperatist movement.

Last I heard the plans were still on the books, but im sure no one is serriously considering it anymore.

Another thing, govts spy on activists aswell.

I have one friend that defenitly had been spied on by the Isreali Secret police.
Im pretty sure they have at least some info on me.

As far as more totalitarian countries like china and Iran, they defenitly spy on expats here.

I have Iranian and Bengledeshi friends who have had threats about there activity here.

Families back home are often targeted.

Every major country has spies out and about up to no good.

I saw this thread a while ago and said nothing but its came up the pile again so thought I would write something :
Dude you're fucked up and edging on nationalist. We are all people of the world, these countries aren't even at war, why would you want to spy on people because of where they came from. Yes, you are overly paranoid.

On a side note, some students at MIT found that tinfoil hats actually amplify some radio frequencies, strangely the ones that happen to be used by the military.

Cospiracy??? you be the judge

Just because govts are at peace dosnt mean they are not spying on each other.

Yes, they do spy each other but that's no reason for the governments to spy on immigrants. It only allows the government to play on the fears of its citizens and gain greater policing powers.

I suppose there are always spies and such, there probably have been ever since the first country appeared. If China is doing anything, it would be because of business interests - just like they "officially" now are "best friends" with Brazil, which in turn makes Washington DC pour over.

The US have interest in the whole world - but I'd say they invade if they run low on resources to keep their global war machine going (I don't see them being desperate).

Anyway, on what do you base that they "spy" on Canada? Because there are more Chinese and American immigrants? I think the choice that if you can move to Canada from China, then you should take that chance. The US is still "ok" in some places, but I'd have my bag ready "in case of" :D ...

paranoid?

more to the point you seem to be a bit of a fucking nationalist. Why are you so interested in defending the 'political sovereignty' of your national bourgoiesie who in the grand scheme of things are beneficiaries of imperialism.

I didnt mean to imply that I think the govt should be spying on people,
I dont, there are a few people here held on security certificates, similar to the patriot act shit, I work against this.

I just thought people were being nieve about the US or China sending spies everywere.

The FBI set up an office in quebec city during the summit of the americas a few years ago.

If you think that the US has an unguarded border with another country and that country isnt full of spies your crazy.

We supply power to most of the North Eastern states, they wll want to know whats going on up here.

Even if just on the context of the war on terror, Im sure the US is doing its own "information gathering" in Canada.

they may well be doing their own intelligence gathering. The significance of this of course is limited by the fact that the interests of the bourgoies states in canada and america basically converge
