I just got back from DragonForce's first, though limited, tour of America and holy FUCK was it awesome.

First, we get to the venue at about 2pm and the doors openned at 6, thus we were the first there in very windy and cold weather. I only wore a flanel and my friend wore a black leather jacket. Being the first there was cool because we got to talk to some of the band members and my friend got autographs and pictures taken. A guy that "manages" Herman Lee's guitars came out and talked with us for a while and gave me a few picks to pass out, since more people started t show up. Itook one and gave the rest to my friend who kept thm to give to his brothers. The entire time I was FREEZING.

THe show starts and the two of us are up against the steele guard railing that's about a foot or so from the stage. Two bands play and the shit hit the fan when the second band, an emo band, played and people started moshing, pushing up against the damn railing. It got worse once DragonFOrce started and everyone behind the front group of people began moshing, pushing us further into the railing. THe only thing I could do was head bang and throw my arms around, sometimes to knock the fuckers behind me back or to get me some more room. The whole place practically blew up as the band played, people crowd surfing, moshing, etc. THe drummer for the band said earlier before the doors openned that he's never seen crowds as insane as Americans. Every so often the security would spray people with water to keep them cooled down, which caused my next problem: walked outside, at night in the old, soaking wet.

THe show was awesome. I even got to touch Herman and Sam's hands at one point during the show. The crushing just added to it, as I was shoving myself into the fuckers around me to both get them to move and because I was getting into the atmosphere. Fuck, I even have a mark where I was forced against the railing like a sardine.

I'm not sure if above makes anysense, but I've been up 24 hours, my ears are ringing, I'm cold, and my throat hurts. But FUCK was it an awesome show.

Now I normally keep myself to myself when I don't like a band, but what is it about Dragonforce that makes them so popular?
OK their songs are alright, but thats not the point. They just play a speeded up version of 80's power metal that died years ago. And those cheesy 80's vocals are just awfull.
I just see DragonForce as the most over-rated, irrelevant, band of the moment (Oh no, thats Bullet For My Valentine :P )

Tell your friend that liking Dragon Force does not make me god, tell him liking Sonata Arctica makes me god.

irrelevant, band of the moment

Whats irrelevant about lyrics to do with dragons, warriors, storms, glorious fantacy battles and computer games?

These are everyday occurences for some of us. Excuse me, its six PM, time to take my meds...

I love the lyrics! - Though I do think they could do some more Pirate lyrics. :P
I just don't get why everyone is going on about how they should be the next big thing, when they're not doing anything new.
There's nowt wrong with liking them, but.... ....oh, I won't bother carrying on, I just realised I like 3 Inches of Blood....

I don't know about Battleheart, but there's another band that has a pirate theme. I just can't put my finger on their name for some reason.

Aah, Dragonforce. I was introduced to this band by their song "Fury of the Storm". Cheesy as all hell but good fun nonetheless.

Yeah that is a good song.
I regret not going to see them play now as, even though I am a snob I don't really like them, I think they are really fun.
There's just something about waving around plastic swords that appeals to me.... :P

There are hundreds, 3 Inches of Blood being one of them - and you can't get much cooler than a band who sing songs about pirates, and have a singer with a fat beard who wears gauntlets. :)

I remember reading something about a "pirate metal" band, so I figured I'd look it up, and post it here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Running_Wild_%28band%29

I figured I'd download some of their music, but there's no seeders for it on The Pirate Bay(oh, sweet irony...).

Eh they're ok. Not really the best in my opinion.

Dragonforce... basically Power Ranger's Metal. I mean, don't get me wrong they are DEFINATELY one of my guilty pleasures, but Hammerfall is the best cheesy power metal band in the land!

Although, Dragonforce has a pop sensibility (like most power metallers) that hinges more on an almost J-Pop style (not like most power metallers).

Bands like Dragonforce, Hammerfall and Rhapsody are a guilty pleasure of mine as well. :)
