I just got back from DragonForce's first, though limited, tour of America and holy FUCK was it awesome.
First, we get to the venue at about 2pm and the doors openned at 6, thus we were the first there in very windy and cold weather. I only wore a flanel and my friend wore a black leather jacket. Being the first there was cool because we got to talk to some of the band members and my friend got autographs and pictures taken. A guy that "manages" Herman Lee's guitars came out and talked with us for a while and gave me a few picks to pass out, since more people started t show up. Itook one and gave the rest to my friend who kept thm to give to his brothers. The entire time I was FREEZING.
THe show starts and the two of us are up against the steele guard railing that's about a foot or so from the stage. Two bands play and the shit hit the fan when the second band, an emo band, played and people started moshing, pushing up against the damn railing. It got worse once DragonFOrce started and everyone behind the front group of people began moshing, pushing us further into the railing. THe only thing I could do was head bang and throw my arms around, sometimes to knock the fuckers behind me back or to get me some more room. The whole place practically blew up as the band played, people crowd surfing, moshing, etc. THe drummer for the band said earlier before the doors openned that he's never seen crowds as insane as Americans. Every so often the security would spray people with water to keep them cooled down, which caused my next problem: walked outside, at night in the old, soaking wet.
THe show was awesome. I even got to touch Herman and Sam's hands at one point during the show. The crushing just added to it, as I was shoving myself into the fuckers around me to both get them to move and because I was getting into the atmosphere. Fuck, I even have a mark where I was forced against the railing like a sardine.
I'm not sure if above makes anysense, but I've been up 24 hours, my ears are ringing, I'm cold, and my throat hurts. But FUCK was it an awesome show.
