I wanna make just a plain red flag
I don't have a sewing machine... and I think it might be a good idea to have someone finish it so it doesn't fall apart
I also wanna put it on a pole
how do I do it?
I bought the fabric, by the way, for a toga. It was awesome. I highly recomend red togas for all leftists.

somebody reply to my fucking thread
Lol its really not that complicated though.
You see...you decide how big you want your flag to be...then you cut the red fabric down to the size you want...then you attach it to the poll...(think small holes with string...duct tape even...)
...thats it!

sew the edges around the holes like you would button holes then so it holds better...it wouldn't be that time consuming if you make them small.
Alternatively you could fold the edge of the flag, once you cut it, in around the poll and sew it together...but it might difficult to do that in a straight line by hand and it might take a while if it was a large flag...it might look 'cleaner' though.

Fold all the edges over and sew so that it doesn't fray.
For real good info, find your local sewing circle (or grandmother, mother, other relative that can sew), tell them you want to learn to sew. Have your 'flag' handy and then ask them the best way to prevent it fraying. If they ask you why, tell them you want a flag and change the subject.
If you are nice and friendly, they will hopefully help you.

I would say:
Get (make) two flag shaped peices of red cloth.
Lay them over each other.
Fold the ends of both sides in.
Sew the folded ends like your makeing a pillow case but with no hole.
Sew stitches every so often in the middle (of the flag area) so that it will stay more flaglike and not balloon.
Then cut 3 square holes (you could have done this before but if your not got to measure then it wont matter) on the end of the flad you want thenflag to attach to the pole.
Now cut along the corners alittle bit and fold those flaps you will make over and stitch them.
Hope that makes sence, thats how I would do it.

Just leave it and make a cape for yourself. It's ultra cool these days.
lol a cape would be cool. But even if you don't overlock the edges of the fabric it will also fray. You will need to cut the flag/cape to size then use an overlocker to stop it fraying. Then you'll need to use a sewing machine to sew all the folded edges over nice and neat. Same with the space for your flag pole. Measure it and whatnot, then sew it up. I'd recommend reinforcing that bit - go over it a couple of times.
Then again, if you want it to be nice you might wanna find someone who knows how to do all this so it doesn't end up looking dodgy. :P
