New Labour got a drubbing. The Lib Dems didn't really do very well. The Conservatives did really quite well. The BNP doubled their number of council seats to about 13. Respect picked up a few seats in London (Tower Hamlets), and one in Birmingham. That's about it, really. Oh, and Blair has reshuffled his cabinet, yet all the same faces remain, only in different positions...

The BNP won about 24 seats last night actually, taking their total to about 44 in the country.
Respect won 12 seats in Tower Hamlets and one in Birmingham. Another strong Respect area, Newham, hasn't got round to counting its votes yet.

So the facists gained twice as many seats as the great new hope for socilism? Also the BNP gained eleven in one council which was very worrying. It was rpedictable labour would get a grubbing.

It was the first time Respect had stood in many of these places. Go to the Respect website and you'll see how respectable the vote was, and how much better it was than any of the sects have ever managed.
As for the Nazis, their vote was worrying. But with the stupid comments Margaret Hodge made and the headlines about foreign criminals, it was hardly surprising.

For sure the BNPs great at running a campaign in a paticualr area on a populis issue. I think the real issue is what the BNP does on the grounds and the way they set working class communities agianst each other.

Thing is the far leftist movement is far bigger than the far rightist, but the left think for themselves and splinter off in all different directions; the far right stick together like flies to a shit and all vote for one party as they love to rally under leadership so much.

Doesn't that mean "death to the white man" or something?
On the BNP: they did a damn sight better than I expected them to. And Labour did quite a lot worse than I thought - at least it's a sign that people are fed up with Labour to the extent that they'd even vote for the BNP.

The right is in factions in much the same way as the left; BNP, BPP, N9S, WNP, BNSM, EFP, FP, NF, NBP, NA...
