Anyone know how strong they are currently? I read the wikipedia blurb about it, and I can't find much about them on the interweb, so could someone tell me about them?

Last I heard, the CPRF was "the successor" of the CP of the Soviet Union. They advocate a return to the old system, but that's all I know.

According to Wikipedia, it says it has 500,000 members, which would be about 5% of the population if Russia had the same amount of people as my country :) ...

The Communist Party was never large. Not even in the heyday of the Soviet Union did they have a huge membership. I think 7 million was about as large as they ever got. They horribly mismanaged their government for decades, and are now on the outside looking in. And, they misnamed their party. They are absolutely NOT Communists (not in the true sense of the word). I think they were going for the shock factor, that's all. They were a poorly managed Socialist party that mucked up the works for everyone.

Hello, I think you are a new member. Enjoy your stay!

I think the quantity is never as important as the quality. Even in Viet Nam, after widening the membership, the total quantity of the Party members is just about over 2 million while the population is about 80 million.

As well as Commie God and Dreckt I really don't know much of The Communist Party of the Russian Federation. And I think if you can you should talk more about it, ok?

guys,

I was on a four day tour of Poland offered by LOT, the official airlines of Poland in 1978. I can tell you about all that I saw there, and I can present pictures.

Guys,

I have seen Communism from an American point of view, a European point of view, and from a modern point of view.

I can speak of Communisim back in the 60s and 70s, and I can discuss their importance in the 80s, and 90s, and I discuss their relevance today.

membership of the communist party was not a competition of getting the entire nation to join. They were the vangaurd, which is all it was. At it's top party-membership was 19 million, which was 10% of the soviet-population. Allthough this was when the revisionists were in power and by then party membership was not much special and vangaurdist anymore.

And i dont see how they misnamed they're party. 'They were not communist in the true sense of the word'. With that i assume you're a petit-bourgeouisie idealist that expects everything to be perfect, bad luck for you that petit-bourgeouisie idealists have never achieved anything.

And poorly managed is a very funny term, especially when refering to the communist party of the Soviet Union.

Do tell us...

I have the feeling we're missing something... OHW RIGHT! THE COMMUNIST POINT OF VIEW! So, you as a 'communist' have seen it all through the eyes of the imperialists... how impresive...

Who cant? Actually people who haven't been there have a less subjective view then you have on it.

Again, a communist party is a vangaurd, not something you can just join and then figure you're bored with so quit it.

Todays Russian Communist party is made up of old soviet sympatisers in other words greedy old men ,who don't stand for the proletariet in the slightest so I want nothing to do with them
