Cloaking devices which renders objects invisible is physically possible and in the research stage presently.

This is another kind of thing that it'd be cool to develope, but not necessary. I also doubt it's being looked into very much [unfortunately].
I remember reading about a car in the Weekly World News (you know, the fake magazine) that both sides were covered with millions of tiny cameras and display screens that would take pictures really fast and display them on the opposite side of the car. I always thought that could be possible.

That was stolen from a movie where a plane did the exact same thing.

It's very much necessary in for example warfare.

It reminds me of that car in some James Bond film, looks really fake and I doubt it will be possible in the next few decades although i would like to be proved wrong.

i consider this to be something that needs to be opposed as much as possible untill we have had the revolution behind us.
i would hate to deal with invisible soldiers during the revolution
We shall just have to arm ourselves with lots of talcum powder. That should hopefully help.
The sci-fi geek in me is loving this though. How exciting!!

I dont think this is unnessecary at all, it all depends on how its used. Of coure the US would probably use this as another factor of the patriot act, but all in all, this could have many uses, specially if us revolutionaries could get our hands on it lol. But seriously, i truely believe that cloaking could be used for good...but more then likely used for the bad. This is just another common "enhancement" in science.

So the military might some fancy new toy some 50 years in the future. Won't be much use if they have no supplies.
The technology is actually already partially developed. Japanese scientists have developed a coat that can partially do it...it sort of has an odd tint to it though...
Give them a couple of years to work out the kinks and etc..and itll exist.

I also wouldn't like to fight invisible soldiers, it'd be like halo all over again (in my mind).

Do you have a link to the article which this picture goes with?

Militaries develop a lot of technology particularly strange ones as well. Some they use and some they don't. This is simply impractical unless the cost can be cheapened. I think nuclear warheads pose a much greater threat than a few invisible soldiers.
Sure.

Hopefully this will work.

This link explains exactly how it all works. What I realized from the article is how far we have to go before this becomes a usable option for warfare, civilian life, etc..

Haha. Yeah. I believe I posted an article in where the USA was trying to turn Sharks into underwater spies....
I have to agree. The technology has quite awhiles to go before it becomes a viable or useful option for the military. In fact I find the technology rather cool and not scary at all. Nuclear warheads will always be the most terrifying weapons out there, till some scientific idiot develops something stronger.

Well then I guess it's a good thing that war is unnecessary. :)

The researchers have just revealed their blueprints for it.
Here's some more info.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/5016068.stm
It seems that the cloak will interupt the normal patterns of light.
