Hello everyone! My name is claro de luna and I am an 18 year old girl from Albania.

As you may know, or maybe not, Albania has been for long a communist country. It has been untill 1990 when the students did a big revolution and the communist party, which had put under its dictature the country for almost 45 years, dissolved finally.

So why, you may ask, you are registered in this site of leftist if your country has suffered so much from the communism?

Well, I agree that Albania has been poor for a lot of time trying to block herself from the other "capitalist" countries, but I also know that it was not the fault of the communism itself; it was the fault of the crazy people governing.

For a country to have a communist governement, it needs to have a very progressed economy. You can't live in communism if you steel the property of rich people and give it to the poors.

That is what I think at least. I am not very informed on the communist ideas, because when I was little, it was banned to learn about these things. Everybody agreed that it was a good thing to have gotten rid of the communism and no one explained the good and bad sides of it. Basically, I have entered this site to learn and to worship Che, which is, by the way, my one of my favourite charaters in the whole history.

Welcome to Revleft! :)

If you have any questions about communism feel free to ask them in the Learning sub-forum, every question is worth asking, so don't feel like it's 'silly' to ask certain things, ask whatever you want and people will try their best to answer.

I have entered this site to learn and to worship Che, which is, by the way, my one of my favourite charaters in the whole history.

I don't think that 'worshipping' anyone is a good idea, nor would che himself approve of such a thing, so why worship him? Is respecting his achievements not enough?

Hi Claro

I think you've got the right ideas about why Communism in Albania failed

We admire Che, we don't worship him (although sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference...)

I am sorry, that was what I meant, respecting his work. My friend too, who has read my Introduction thread, says that too.

I need a little encouregemnt since english is not my official language and like I said in the thread, it is not a good thing to talk about communism here where I live, so I am making like something forbidden here!! Yay!

Welcome. My favourite book on communism is State and Revolution (http://marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1917/staterev/index.htm) by Vladimir Lenin. It may help you understand what went wrong in Albania and how the Albanians can fix it next time. Unfortunately, I don't know of any copies in Albanian.

The problem with Albania was Enver Hoxha.

Yeah Red Axis, I know. He called himself a communist but in fact he was a crazy old man with a nasty case of paranoia...

Hopskotch anthill, I will try to find the book in albanian or english. Thanks for the suggestion!

Black dagger, my teacher said that I needed to practice english by going into sites. The thing she did not know is that I would go into sites like this one! LOL!!

Welcome to the forum. Yeh I wouldn't consider the old Albanian reigieme as a very good example of socialism.
